When Rebecca was a baby, our upstairs neighbours' cat had fleas, which it spread round their flat and then ours (we used to let it come in, and they very kindly never told us about the fleas!! grrrr) I was horrified lol! I rang the environmental services dept of the local council - they came out and set off smoke bombs in the house - must be the same kind of things as Nicki had. We owned our flat, but this was done for free - maybe your local council will have a similar service? (we were in Scotland then too). Although it was nearly 14 years ago now.....they tend to charge for everything nowadays!!

Good luck with getting rid of them.

xxx

Awww Lynn, how horrible!
Sorry, no idea how to shift them, but it cant be a nice thing to have them in your house, especially as you have no pets yourself.
I hope you can get rid of them soon.
Big hugs

When the girls were little they rescued a hedgehog which was covered in fleas and then our dog got them as well from the hedgehog.  We used a spray that we bought from the local vet, similar type of thing to Nicki had to leave the rooms for 2 hours after spraying.  You have to make sure you spray under furniture and under radiators.  The warmer weather and central heating make them bread faster.

How weird you should post this!

I think our cat has fleas as I have noticed bites on us a couple times - I have sprayed him and completely sprayed the house with stuff from the pet shop. Thing is where we live is surrounded in country side/fields etc and I have noticed a manky cat hanging around our garden trying to fight with Boots grrrr.

Its horrid to think they are in the house isn't it!

I am going to try the smoke bomb things too

Sending you flea hating sympathy!

xx

Smoke bombs, but nikki got there first lol.

Seriously, set one off, and go out for a while...it stinks, but works!

We had to do it in our house in thirsk when we brought that, but thats because the previous occupants were mingers.

I tend to set one off for march outs as well....just in case my pets (even though clear) have brought any lil unwelcome guests with them, would hate to have someone complain about me after id moved out...house wise that is lol.

pmsl @ you not being a minger

fleas are horrid, I had them when I moved into my first house and it took me MONTHS to get rid of them!!  I've no idea why there were there, the previous owner never had pets....anyway, I had the council in twice (he walked up my path in a big bloomin white suit like CSI!!) and it didn't work...

smoke bombs worked in the end, I set one off in every room and then hoovered every couple of hours..

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww hope they go soon!  xx

The more you hoover after setting off the bomb's, the less effective they are..

Some of the smoke from the bombs settles on carpets, sofa etc.. this is what kills the fleas that are still in the eggs and hatch a few days after the bombs have been set off..

does that make sense??

Yes it makes sense you aren't meant to hoover after using the spray from the vets either because it sucks it all out of the carpet and you need it to settle and kill the eggs.
