How long did it take to train your los ? no. 1 and no. 2's

The wee's only took two days, one accident, but the no. 2's have taken about 2 weeks. she has come on leaps and bounds but I had to put her on a mild laxative as she was holding onto her poo for over 3 days.

When she was in nappies she did no. 2's every day and now even with the laxative it's every second day, but she does seem to becomming less afraid of it.

I don't want to keep her on the laxative too long so I hope her phobia doesent last too long.

I am really proud of her, she is out of nappies by night as well.

Has the doctor suggested a laxative? This can sometimes be counter productive. Lots of kids have problems with pooing into the toilet and it can take them longer to learn how to use the toilet for poos. It took quite a few weeks for Alex to do his pooing, I had to explain to him that his poos were his old food. I told him that his body had used all the good stuff from the food to give him lots of energy and now the old food had to go. He liked that idea and it seemed to help him. Emilie does poo in the loo- but hates trying to wipe her own bot! Don't worry about this- ask your hv for tips if she's becoming constipated.

my 3 yr old loves to wear nappy pants, however since having our water supply done, the side bath panel is off and he refuses to sit on the toilet, so dh will have to find a spanner soon as Fred really needs to be trained. It does generally take longer for no 2's than 1's but I wouldn't worry about it too much. With ds1 I used to put his nappies on just for that reason.

I didn't go to the doctor, I just went to the chemist after 4 days, It's a very mild laxative but if it didn't work the next step would be going to the doctor.

She now goes every 2 days but when she was in nappies she went every day.

I did try juice and a high fiber diet first.

I think the main reason I am worried about it is my sil had a lot of trouble getting her son to go to the loo, he was over 4 and and to be seen loads of times by the doctor. she one got so frustrated with him she locked him in the loo for 2 hours.
