After getting the local paper on Thursday I flicked through the job section, when one advert caught my eye. It was advertising for a behavioural support worker, very similar to what I was doing before moving here. I carried on reading the advery expecting to find the last line saying, 'The ability to communicate in Welsh and English is essential for this post', but it wasn't there.
I rang them on Friday and I asked about qualifications, and she reassured me that they were not looking for someone with specific qualifications, just experience in the field (which I have woohoo lol). I then asked, with baited breath, how desirable the ability to communicate in Welsh was, and she just laughed and said if I spoke Welsh Im very unlikely to be understand by most people as it was a pretty much English speaking team! Woohoo again!
I have been out of this line of work for almost 2 years now, so I am not getting my hopes up. Someone asked me yesterday what I thought the chances of me getting it were, and my only response is that if I dont apply then I have no chance, so by applying my odds are better. I have no idea if I have enough experience, but the start wage is low, and they are offering an NVQ2 in social care so I am assuming they are not looking for someone who is highly experienced. It is a residential school, but they have day time only hours available, so thats great!
It doesnt say when the closing date is, or the short list dates, so i guess I will have to just sit and wait for a few weeks and see. Keep something crossed for me!
