Right, rather a strange one.  I have never had a garden only a yard up until I moved last year. Last summer was a wash out so apart from mow the lawn i haven't done anything.

DF went and bought the boys a 10ft trampoline a few weeks ago which has taken a chunk out of my back garden.  So I've decided my garden will be the front.

We had a huge ugly bush thing in there which we spent half of yesterday taking out.  So the front is completely clear. we have a nice sized 2ft x 6ft planting area which is completely bare.

It gets a lot of sun and no shade.  Does anyone know whats plants would be best to plant?  I did ask at someone at the local garden centre but he looked at me as if I was crazy..I mean he only worked there?

Also whats the best thing to put in hanging baskets and wall baskets?  I know freesias (sp) as a good one, but I want a bit of variety.

I'm going to b & q later so any advice would be greatly appreciated lol

Pansys are good for hanging baskets and ground cover and the good thing about them apart from they come in every colour imaginable they re-seed themselves so they should come back every year.  Geraniums are good but they need watering alot.  Wall flowers are good in flower beds, I also love sweat peas but you need something for them to grow up.  If you want the garden to smell nice especially in the early evening then night scented stock is great.  I also have a Jasmine in my front garden that grows mad but smells lovely am forever chopping the thing down.

With hanging baskets unless you are going to spend a lot of time lining them correctly so that they don't loose water you are probably better off buying them ready made.

The one thing I will say is check the heights and spread of which ever plants you choose.  The people that lived in our house before us bought some lovely trees and plants but our back garden is like a wood land now because none of the plants were appropriate for a small back garden and we have had to remove a lot already.

Im absolutely rubbish in the garden lol... I went to the garden centre, walked round and left with most of the flowers that were pink pmsl except a fushia (sp?) because thats pink and purple lol, but everything else is pink. My garden will have a variety of petal shapes and a mix of pink shades hehe I likes pink no idea what the flowers are called though.
