Can anyone help, just been to gp about pain, he sent me away with a script for ibuprofen, told me to have more blood test. I'm on cruthes an waiting for a belt, i'm on amitriptyline 150mg an 30/500 co-codamol four times a day. He wanted to up my amtriptyline to 200mg, and expect me to function with 2los. He poked my pubis so hard loads i nearly fell off the chair. Told him about the shooting breakthrough pain, i'm exhausted with it all, either up till daft o'clock or up from stupid o'clock. Seriously considering moving surgeries. I also asked for the mirena coil to be took out, he also more or less said don't have more children, which quite frankly i think that is my discison to make regardless of my condition. Sorry for moaning but aaaarrrrrrrgh

Hi hunny,
Do you know what he’s testing for in the blood tests?
Sounds like he’s not listening to you…. If I was you I’d go back to the surgery and see a different doc for a second opinion or change surgeries… It’s appalling that he seems to think the way forward is to have you attacked by vampires and to up the medication you’re on. It might just be that the medication your on isn’t working for you (I know d’ur) and you might have to try something else.
Your gp should be sympathetic to your condition and try and help you find a way to keep going though pain meds and anything else they can do… I find it very sad (polite word) that he’s only treating what he wants to see and not the picture as a whole.
May I ask why you’re having the coil removed? As I’m not up on the coil/coils out there.
As for having or not having any more kids you are right it’s your decision they can only advise you on whats best and personally I don’t really get the feeling he knows much about spd and it’s effects and how to treat/help etc. so I can’t see why he feels he should be able to dictate family size.
Arggghh indeed… Hugs hun and feel free to moan away.

Hi tsena, i'm a bit calmer now, I went to walton nurology had blood tests (a load-9 tubes...ouch). My b12 levels were slightly low, so was given a script for folic acid 5mg, he said i should have folate levels tested every twelve months to check they aren't dropping. I have asked for coil to be taken out as i've not had a period for 2 months now, my bust is extremely sore and have gained a lot of weight, it doesn't seem to be helping spd at all and i'm so stroppy with dh all the time. Oh he told me the mirena coil wouldn't have any affect on spd anyway,.
He hasn't recommended anything else, if i take any more amitryptiline i would litrally be a zombie.
To be honest he as offerred my friend exactly same medication for her bowel and stomach problems, in the end she had to have her gall bladder out.
I really don't know what to do any more, feel like i'm banging my head against a brick wall. If it wasn't for this site i definately would be.

Hay hun, no worries thats what we're all here for.
I'd suggest defiantly seeing a different doc. I tried amitryptiline but didn't get on with it, dp ended up being sent with half edible sandwhiches but he didn't like the neat squash and cold tea! lol
I've also tried gabapentin.... it's a similar item but that too didn't agree with me.
I'm now on paracetamol, di-hydracodeine, lanzoprazole (sp), naproxen and a few others for side effects and bits and pieces but i also have oramorph for night time as i refuse to go onto morphine full time due to the need to drive and look after kiddies.
Hope you can get to see someone who understands and will re-assess your meds soon hun.
As for the coil.... i have the implant and i haven't had a period since i breastfeed lo nearly 2 yrs ago. I get the odd bleed but accoring to physio etc thats more likely to be due to swelling and internal brusing/bleeding from doing too much.
Don't use a brick wall hun.... it'll only make you feel pants upto too and have a mess to clean up! Too much hard work! Hot choc and marshmallows is my relax and chill treat, lol that and strawberries! lol

Don't think I can stand this pain much longer, it's really bad tonight Don't think i'm amking much sense now sorry, my dh would be happy with any sort of paced lunch He starts to worry if i make em for him

Awww hugs hun what pillows do you have i find 2 positioned in a v from bottom outwards (upside down v shape) helps also ones under my knees. A warm wheat bag/hot water bottle does sometimes help but more for comfort than pain relief.
Give the out of hrs doc a buzz but make sure they come out to you..... good luck hun. Hope it eases soon as i find the evenings from 5 onwards are murder.

right, bear in mind i have not been working since feb, so my mind is addled but i hope this helps.
when we have patients who have gabapentin it is for nreve pain and is very effective and it can be upped. the first call is amytriptilline, but i would ask for the gabapentin. the other one that not alot of people know of is carbamazepine. now, don't be scared by the next bit....this is the drug we give as an anti epileptic. it does have very good property as a pain reliever and we also give it to the same patients who have gabapentin.
i am on tramadol and co codamol and nurofen. hope this gives you a bit more info to go see ANOTHER dr and don't lose heart. as mentioned before, call out the out of hours GP. It's not fair that you have to do this but by keeping a diary of your pain, what initiates a flare up, the times you are up and activities done during the day, the consultations you have had, info given to dr examination, findings and response of drs willl strengthen your case.

thanks for the help all. I have down loaded the pelvicpartnership booklet, went a bit bonkers with it though. I have the booklet explaining it....48 pages to take to gps, booklet for family and friends which appears under dh nose when he moves, also benefits which i am very unclear on so will probably ring up tomorrow.
Does anyone know of i will be entitled to dwa, i have been to docs for over three years complaining about the same thing, telling them it is exactly the same pain as when i was pregnant.
Thanks chappie it definately does help, i may even tell them to look at this site, but i think i will go in and ask for gaba and carbamazapine. I know gaba is expensive which is probably why they don't want to give script.
