Saw my GP this morning and I'm on the waiting list for a CPN visit. I know it's to help me work out why I keep getting depression and to find ways to deal with it, but what should I really expect ? Is it ok that my kids will prob be present and should I make a list of questions for her or him ? Thanks for any help, xx.

Hey hun, I currently have a CPN. She's a lovely lady and we never really talk about my problems, but somehow she's helping me through them ever visit. The visits are really casual and my kids are always here when she arrives. At first I wondered why she was coming, she never talked about anything really but I guess they're trained to pick up on little things and help you sort through them.
I dont think you need to make a list of questions, unless of course there's certain things you want to discuss. My CPN has been coming for about an hour every week now for the last 7 weeks and she's one of the best things thats happened to me. Good luck hun, I hope you get to the bottom of your problems, it isn't going to happen over night but if she's anything like mine you'll be on the up in no time at all.

I haven't had a CPN myself but I have a relative who has and she found her very helpful. A very good friend of mine is a CPN too and he is great he visits lots of people and they tend to tailor their care to how you are. It's fine your children will be there you might find you want to speak to the CPN on your own at some point though.
