I think you shoud wait too, especially with you going away again.  I've been lucky with Aimee but michael was a nightmare.  I'd cope so long then give up until one day he was really ready and was a dream.  Once you've been away hopefully the weather may be a little better here which will make it easier for you.  I personally found letting them have a bare bum in the house made it easier.  They seemed to realise more when they needed to go and after a few days when they were in the habbit they went with underware on too.  I dont personally like pull ups, my experience with them has been terrible, so when you do decide to go for it do it all or nothing, leave the pullups off and see how that goes.

I had a long chat with my mum last night - the first real piece of parenting advice I have needed from her. She said the same as all of you - leave it for a while.

However when I got home and had a chat with Edward he said he wanted to wear pants. I spoke to him again this morning.

So what I have done is this:

He has been asking for a bubble mower - so I got the argos catalogue out and have got the picture from it. He has some Argos vouchers anyway so I said he can have the bubble mower if he can crack this once and for all and that means asking me when he needs to go and trying at playschool too. He seemed keen so I have started a new sticker chart and we'll take it from there. He has today and tomorrow to crack it - if it still isnt working its back in nappies, if he starts to crack it I'll carry on.

Wish us luck ! xxx

Hi, Im new here, but am having the same problems. My son, Lexus, starts school full time in September and he isnt completely out of nappies (only wears them for bed) He wears pants during the day but seems to save the number 2 for bedtimes. My daughter, Alicia, is just 2 and seems to ask for the potty alot. I havent started potty training yet with Alicia but I seem to think that now would be good...

To Madz...You could never be a failure to your children as you do not know what is going though their heads. As parents we never know when is the best time for potty training..its a case of trial and error..I made the mistake of asking my mum about it but she thinks every child is the same and told me to start early..but it wasnt the right time for my lil boy...So I stopped and tried again.

Be good to yourself, and dont put yourself down. SMILE!!!

Aww Madz i hope he cracks it again soon! To be honest some children crack it and then hve a backwards stage. My girls have always been up and down but they have finally been dry at night for over a week! Like people have said i would wait. Or you can bite the bullet and keep doing it.  found when i put nappies on the girls this sent them into the backward stage. Some nights i had to change them 3 or 4 times but then they realised they was losing sleep and being grumpy all the time. I know this is different with Ed's as its in the day.

You are not a failure as a mother you have done everything right and yes like you i have lost it with them. Thats just called parenting. Leave it a week or so and try again. All at once something will just click and he will get it all in one go.

Goodluck babe and keep your chin up. xxx
