I posted last week about joining a medical research study at the university for over weight people with insulin resistance. The idea is to regulate insulin production on diet and exercise alone, without medication. As a result of my PCOS I have insulin resistance and I was taking Metformin to correct it, that was before this study.

Last week I had the glucose tolerance tests, DXA scan and the exercise stress test. They all went well, and this week I start the diet. I received the meal plan this morning, and it sounds really nice! I really can not wait to get started. The only down side to it is the amount of food lol There is more in a day on this sheet than I am used to eating in a week almost lol I HAVE to have breakfast, and on some of the days there is a mid morning, or afternoon snack, as well as 2 other meals. There is quite a lot of variation within the week. The paperwork I received is for 1 week only, so my only hope is its something different the week after. The idea is to adapt this lifestyle after the study, so I dont have to go back on medication (if it works), and it would be very boring if each week I was eating the same things. I wouldn't mind working from a 2 or 3 week menu though!

I really hope this works, I am going to be very good, eat only what Im supposed to. I really am going to give this plan a fair trial and hopefully the rewards will be beter health and weightloss. Once my weight starts to come off this should also improve the PCOS so all in all its quite important for me that this works, it really could be life changing.

Best of luck. I do hope it works out well for you.

I found out I was yeast intolerant in 1999 at first it was really difficult to keep to the diet, but persistance paid off and now I can tolerate the very occasional intake of yeast without any noticeable effects. I suffered with acne, depression, etc and it is possible that it was this that mimicked the symptoms of bipolar disorder with which I am diagnosed. However I am now in good health and despite missing white bread sandwiches life is good.

Do hope you have a good outcome.
