I'm a new member and wondering if anyone has gone through what
is happening to me.

I started what I thought was my period two weeks ago but it was
different because it was just spotting and cramping. I did a
pregnancy test that was positive. My problem is that I am only about
5 weeks pregnant and 3 weeks ago I had UTI and yeast infection.
The perscription drugs plus over the counter medicines that I took
can cause birth defects. I have just had a scan to rule out an eptopic
pregnancy and it showed the sac was in the right place. I am just
waiting on the results of the hcg test. I talked to my doctor and he
said if I want I can terminate the pregnancy.   I feel so guilty about
taking the drugs. If I don't miscarry I don't know if I should continue
with the pregnancy.

aw sweet, tough decision to make. wouldn't like to be you.

Have you been trying for a baby?

The best people to ask about how high the risk of defects is would be dr.Would that be your reasons for termination? the risk of there being defects?

by my calcalations you prob only just conceived when you had your infections. When do you get the hcg test results?

It is really common to spot bleed with cramps in early preg, so the chances are everything is ok.

I am sure you will make the right decison either way, feel free to talk to us all here and we will support you what ever you decide x x

sorry i can't much help

good luck

Continuing with the pregnancy is something that only you, and if necessary your partner, can decide. It really is best waiting for the hcg results before you make your decision. Its not your fault that you took the medication, no one was aware you were pregnant so please do not feel bad about doing that. I was taking medication, and drinking alcohol for the first few months of my pregnancy because I didnt know I was pregnant, it happens all the time. When will you get your results back?

When i was pregnant with my daughter i was unaware at the time like you, and i was taking some medication for my joint problems which can cause birth defects, i was also drinking a lot of alcohol!

My pregnancy went well and i ended up having a completely healthy little girl.

The decision is one only you can make but i thought i would share a positive experience with you.

Hope you are ok.

Thanks to you all for your help and kind words. I'm hoping to get the
hcg test results today. Not feeling to good at the moment I woke up in
the night with cramps but the spotting seems a little less.

Still not sure what to do my husband who is very supportive said that
for him my health comes first. This is my first pregnancy and it wasn't
planned.

Thanks again,

Helen
