Freed went for his latest blood test on Wednesday, and bless his heart he was an absolute angel. They said the doctor was about so did he want the magic cream (an hour of waiting for his hand to go numb) or did he just want the spray (not sure what it does, except it means it's quicker). Knowing that Fred doesn't respond to pain I thought we'd go with the spray, all he did was look daggers at the doctor drawing his blood, no whinging, no whimpers, not even an'ouch'. I got a phone call yesterday to let me know the results. So his iron level is normal, his iron stores are still extremely low, and now his white cell count (the bit that fights infection) has remained very low for more than 6 weeks. As it is, he is in no danger health wise, and he is on iron medication (which isn't working very fast), they will give him another blood test nearer September, whenI am due back to see his paediatric consutlant again anyway. So all in all not excellent news, but not bad either!
