Are they checking your iron or ferritin levels? You will have a positive result for heamochromotosis, as we discovered from my genetic counsellor dad being a sufferer means ALL his siblings will be carriers, but we also discovered none of us will be sufferers because mum isn't a carrier. Even if you are a type 'c' carrier you will be ok, will just mean 5 yearly checks instead of 8 yearly if you were a type 'h' carrier. As far as I know dad, nor Gillian have been given clear details of the mutation type they have. If dad is CH then you could be either, dad cant be HH as I have type c, so he could be CC which means we'll all be type c carriers. If any of that makes sense, but just so you dont worry about your levels they should come back normal or slightly elivated but you wont need to go through the blood draining dad had to have, plus you're young, and a woman its all in your favour. Women rarely show any signs until much later in life because of their menstrual blood loss.
As for the PCOS good luck getting results for that lol I found Fairfield to be extrememly unhelpful in that department! Make sure you tell them mum had gynae problems (think she had a form of PCOS and cysts but cant remember what she said) and I have PCOS. Its believed to be inherditory. Once on the right treatment its highly treatable! Best thing you can do for yourself whilst waiting the results is change your diet and work hard at loosing weight. Weightloss is the best 'cure' for minimising symptoms. Get yourself on a low GI diet as that works well with the problems PCOS flares up. If it turns up that you haven't got it then it wont have done you any harm.
Have you had an eye test for the headaches? If you're straining your eyes you will get headaches! Hope you get your results soon - you never know could be an early menopause.. will save on a sterilisation hehe
