I love the school holidays. I love spending time with the boys doing messy, fun, silly things that you cant always do because of jobs, school etc..
I have tonnes planned and make a weekly chart's for things to fill the week. I write down things to do each day and put it up in the kitchen. Even if the day is spent in the house, I get them to help clean up, weed the garden, help with the washing. You'd be surprised how enthusiastic they are to help. I tie tea towels round their waists and give them a duster, they love it.
We have plans to go to the library and join in with the team read, there is usually lots on at the library in the holidays. We have picnics planned at the park and even one in the garden with a home made tent.
I have collected boxes from the supermarket and kept hold of our cardboard/paper recycling to make rockets and houses with them. I let my boys make their own lunches (sandwiches and fruit/veg kebabs)
The simplest things keep them amused. If you plan your day it goes much faster and much more fun.
If you have nothing planned or they have nothing to do, then the day never mind the six weeks will feel like an eternity to you all.
