Well, yesterday Fred finally managed to open the safety gate, the house isn't safe for Fred, let alone Winston, but today at just before 6am, I was woken with a bang as the safety gate hit the landing floor. I'm really at a loss as to what to do, I'm lucky it woke both me and dd up, and I managed to fix it back in place, but I'm not sure I can cope with getting up at 6am every morning just in case, and nothing seems to be able to 'childproof' the house. No sooner do I get past one problem, I have another. I wouldn't have minded so much but it was the gate from bump to 3 and for those who have it the bottom section that stops the 'hinged' side coming off was still in place, as the boys wer looking really startled. Any advice welcome, I just don't want to end up bald from pulling out my hair!

OMG hunny you must be exhausted! Don't know what to suggest but the old barn doors that split in half come to mind..... bolt the bottom bit or ask for the top part to be cut higher so the kids can't climb over it.
I really hope they don't do the same tomorrow morning for you hun x

You are right zany! I have been speaking to someone recently who has kids just like mine, and she also suggested a barn door. My problem is now convincing the dh that it is a good idea. He isn't warming to the idea that we have a problem with these two as it is, but his boys will be boys is really starting to get to me. Lets hope he warms to the idea before one of them hurts themselves falling down the stairs!

we have a stable like door leading to our back yard and to be fair it sounds a great idea to use for a childs bedroom, i didnt have to use a stairgate with Molly but Jessie seems to be more into things so i better invest in one lol, vix could you tie the hinge so it wont open? i know a friend used to do that when her children were younger xx jue xx

Urm if he won't go for the barn door idea what about a garden gate inplace of the stairgate with a couple of bolts.... but then again they might try and used the latice work as a climbing frame.
