I was nervous going into my GP yesterday as I still dont know I am doing the right thing - it all seems so surreal at the moment. I knew she's had the letter from my consultant as it arrived yesterday so I wasnt sure if she'd have seen it yet so I took my copy with me, plus a newspaper article from last year about SPD surgery, infomation from jennypenny and the charities I've spoken to, and a list of things to discuss - she must have been horified when I pulled my folder out of my bag.
Anyway she was brilliant. When I walked in she said she already had my referal written out and just needed me to tell her where I wanted to go! So we went through all my infomation and decided the 'expert' specialist seems to be a Proffessor Peter Giannoudis who is based in Leeds. I'm in Cambridgeshire so its a bit of a journey but he is the expert so I want his opinion and my family and friends have promised that if I am in hospital in leeds for 6 weeks they will make sure I have a stream of visitors.
At least I know its moving forward!
She has also refered me to OT so I can get some help around the house, back to physio so I can get help with crutches that wont hurt my wrist (the arthritis is getting worse) and with wheelchairs. She has upped my MST (morphine) to 30mg 12 hourly so I shouldnt have to take as much oramorph as I have been having to rely on.
Thanks everyone for their support.
