She maybe lying in a different postion, which is harder to feel, give the labour ward a ring if you have concerns i am sure the will be happy to help you, or at least try and put your mind at rest.

Do you know where your placenta is?  If you have an anterior placenta it makes it a lot harder to feel movement early on.  How many weeks are you now?  Do you know where your baby is laying?  It can be a lot harder with a first baby to feel them moving as you still have lovely tight tummy muscles.

20 +5 is still early for a first baby to feel movement in a few weeks you will be able to feel a lot more.  If you are 100% sure it's your babies heartbeat you are hearing and not the placenta or your own heartbeat I am guessing everything is fine.  It's worth asking next time you see your mw or having a look in your notes if they have said where the placenta is.  I had an anteria placenta with Ols and felt odd movements down below but didn't feel kicks until much later on in pregnancy as the placenta cushioned the movements.

If you are at all worried then I would contact your mw who will be able to reassure you. hth

What does the placenta sound like ?

What i am hearing is a really fast beating ? Is the placenta like a slower " glugging " noise ?

The placenta normally has like a swishing type noise at about the same speed as your own heart beat but it is swishey type noise.
