Hey all. At my last appointment at 33 weeks we found out the baby is still head up and butt down. The doc said he doesnt worry bout babys position until your last month. My question to you all since yall are experts on having babies lol. My baby is a lil bigger than she should be so Ive read the chances on her flipped from now on and getting into the right position is slim after 34 weeks??? Should I be concerned cause Ive had two vaginal deliverys before and Im soo afraid of a c section and Ive heard that when the doc does that version thing to turn the baby himself it hurts?? Can anyone help please. This is my third full pregnancy so Im not a first time mom flipping out lol. Im just concerned.

I have 3 children and 2 of them were breach one turned one didn't.  My daughter turned at 39 weeks so it is possible and she weighed 7lb 6oz.  My son was breach at 38 weeks and as he was extended breach (feet first) I decided to have a C Section.  I had 2 previous vaginal births and didn't know what to expect but actually the C Section was no worse than the vaginal births just different, I think for me the recovery time was much the same it just didn't hurt to pee....  I opted to not have inversion as I had read mixed reviews about it so decided against it as I had very painful ribs anyway with all of mine at the end.

My first Daughter was undiagnosed breech, so I ended up having an emergency CS. Basically the MW told me she was breech at 34 weeks, and then at 38 weeks they told me she turned. Unfortunately, when my waters broke and the MW examined me, they realised that she was actually still breech so in the interest of her safety, I had an emergency c section. As it turns out it was a wise choice, because she was not only breech, but she was back to back and she had her feet behind her ears (so could have seriously damaged he hips coming through the birth canal normally)

I decided I wanted to have my second baby vaginally, so I was monitored closely all the way through to check she wasn't breech as well. Fortunately she wasn't and I had her completely naturally with only the aid of gas and air.

My experience of the CS wasn't bad, and in fact the nicest thing was to just lay there under a blue surgical sheet listening to the radio whilst Jess was being born, which meant I could enjoy the moment, rather than being distracted by pain lol. The one thing I did find was I personally felt more physically delicate after the CS. I had three tears with the vaginal birth, however despite this I didn't feel as physically restricted after my second birth as I was with the CS. With the CS I was told not to do any lifting, not to hoover and (though it didn't affect me at that time)  yu're also not allowed to drive for a few weeks after a CS. Both the CS and the vaginal birth have advantages/disadvantages.

One thing I will suggest is that you ask them to scan you a few weeks before your EDD. With my first pregnancy I'd been examined by eight Doctors/MW/Nurses within the last 24 hours of my being pregnant (I had gone into slow labour 36 hours before I had Jess), and it wasn't until my waters went that anyone actually picked up on the fact Jess was still breech. When I went for my 38 week scan with Millie, DH 'insisted' they scanned me with the mobile unit to make sure they were right when they said Millie wasn't breech and luckily they were. I just think it's important (what ever you decide to do) that you give yourself the best opportunity of knowing that they are 100% right about what position your baby is in, so that you can make an informed choice Good Luck!

I think it's just the luck of the draw to be honest..both mine were breech and never turned at all - mws told me I must have an odd shaped pelvis as it is quite rare to have 2 breech  - hannah never moved postion the whole time because the kicks were always the same and same positions on scans etc.   I tried all sorts - moxibustion, pulsitilla but no joy so I've had 2 c-secs - having nothing to compare them to, I think they were both fine even tho both were emergency ones as I went into labour early - the first took longer to recover but it was done under a general anaesthetic..with my 2nd it was quicker and I felt fine after a few days, just had to take it easy...I've heard that rocking on all fours/cleaning floors on your hands and knees is good for turning babs but both these things made me feel sick so I didn't bother....good luck!

I've never had a situation like this, so i have no idea.. but im sure babies can turn right up until the very last minute though.
If your concerned, then have a chat with your gp or mw, they will be able to give you a more personal opinion on what will happen if she does or doesn't turn, just to get yourself more prepared for either outcome.

Just a quick note on the driving after a C Section, I rang my insurance company and asked them when I was allowed to drive again and they said they didn't stipulate how long you had to not drive for as long as you felt you could do an emergency stop then I could drive.  I was driving 120 mile trips within 2 weeks.  So it's worth checking with your insurance company, I found driving easier than walking.

Hi I'm 36+3 and my mw thinks my baby is still breech, when i went to my appointment last week she wanted to send me for a scan but the hospital won't accept a scan for presentation until at least 37 weeks cos the baby can turn at any minute, they were adamant even when the mw told them i was having a big baby (at least 10lb she rekons) (which was news to me!)
