Hiya I'm a newbie and looking for all the resources/advice I can get. Beentold my son has a low tone condtion that makes him slow in walking and talking I did the chatter kids porgramme but there's a waiting list before any futher porgress is made. Will be grateful of any help I am given

Hi hun and welcome to madmum's.

I've been told from my hv and a speach therapist that my nearly 2 and a half year old has delayed speach and understanding and i have games and things i've got to do with him to try and help him out.

I'm on the waiting list now to have full speach therapy but the list is so long. He should get seen before he has to enter school.

Just keep going and he'll get there. Make sure you have eye contact and take your time, do it when they are less tired etc. good luck.

Oh i'm Tsena and mum too two boys (7 and 2). I live in cambridgeshire with my dp. Look forward to chatting soon.

Welcome - Im Maddy - mad mummy to 3 year old Edward.

Up until 2 he hardly spoke but then suddenly started and their was no stopping him! Dont worry too much for now as he is stil young. Keep playing lots of word games and singing games until you hear more.

Have you had any referrals made yet?

Hi and Welcome

I am Fee and I have 2 girls - aged 3 and 7

My 3 year old has been quite slow to develop properly speech wise and we were referred for speech therapy some months back.

Lily's problem came from her hearing not being 100% due to large adenoids and these were recently removed which has improved her hearing hugely

She attended the speech therapist who advised we were to carry on with word games/reading books etc to help her and to go back in 6 months. Since then she has really come on and is gaining more vocab every day

Hang in there and try to do a lot of things with him at home to help

I would have a chat with your gp/health visitor, and see if they can refer your child to a paeditrician.  They should then sort out hearing and speech tests, to check, depending on your area as to how quick you get seen.  They don't generally worry about speech etc until the child is 2 hope this helps xxx

It a 6-8 week programe run by Surestart.  It's supposed to cut the waiting list time down to 6 months but I can't wait that long. Don't want my boy starting nursery and still have these problems.
