Do your kids love to cook too? What sort of things do you cook with them?
Last weekend we were having a BBQ for my parents and eds wanted to make pudding so we made Jam and chocolate filled cookies. We dont bake that often (although will do more now I have my perching stool) but often eds helps me cook dinner.
Anyway I wanted to show Eds off to you - The next Gordon Ramsey/Jamie Oliver!
Eds mixes the flour, butter and sugar.
Eds gets in a bit of a mess tasting the cake mix
Eds shows off his cooking! (This was for photographic purposes only - I dont let him use the oven really!)
He also loves making curries and thai mixes where I blend ingedients together and helping me make stews. In fact yesterday I got him eating raw carrot for the first time ever!

Awwww bless him, he looks like he had a great time I used to bake a lot with Jess when she was little (2-5ish) but now she's at school all day and I'm at Uni, and we have Millie, it's really hard to find the time. Jess sometimes likes to help with dinner if she's in the mood. She'll peel the carrots or grate the cheese, or mix the tuna/cooked chicken and mayo (if we're having pasta salad)... anything that doesn't require using a sharp knife or touching anything hot really. She's nearly nine now so she's pretty capable of helping, but I'm still too cautious to risk letting her use anything that could be remotely dangerous.
DH likes to bake occasionally when he's got a day off, and it's nice cos it's something he and Jess can do together that doesn't depend on the weather or our finances that week I think it will be nice for Jess in the next few years as Millie gets a bit bigger (cos other than me taking charge with the oven) she'll be big enough to lead Millie with baking a few buns etc. Jess just loves being the clever and helpful big Sis

Joshua loves cooking. He can bake a cake with only adult help for the oven. We dont use electric whisks etc so he can just get on with it. He knows how to weigh the ingrediants and mix them up, even breaks his own eggs lol He also helps with every day cooking, peels potatoes or carrots although usually requires plenty of time as its not the speediest of tasks for him bless. He happily helps where he can. He also makes sandwiches, Ive started buying ready grated cheese so he can put whatever he wants on it, ham, cheese, jam etc and he doesn't need my help (he likes to be independant). He can grate the cheese but obviously requires supervision which he hates lol
well done to Eds hope his cookies came out nice and tastey!

They also help with the cleaning up afterwards.
How clean is your oven, you can barley see through my oven door lol, I pay for a company to come in and clean mine lol I know seriously lazy but i hate it

I've yet to let mine do any cooking Fred will stir a stew if I carry him, but with all the accidents and climbing with the rayburn, I have stopped him doing the stirring even. They do kee trying to climb up and help, but it would only take once mess up, and I'm not yet willing to take that risk.
Eds does look gorgeous though, hasn't he grown up!

Vix you can do cooking and baking away from the Rayburn. Let them mix up mixtures for cakes, add ingrediants, put all the vegetables etc into the pans... Then tell them that you'll be the grown up helper and do the hot bit. Then when its done they can maybe help put it on plates etc so they feel like they do the cooking and baking. With cupcakes they could do practically all of it, all you need to do is put the tray in the oven, and take it out again when its done.

My eldest Jacob is an amazing artist and told me that, that was what he wanted to be when he grew up, then he said he wanted to be a chef as he loves cooking and eating food. I told him that if he became a really good chef he would be an artist with food which thrilled him.
I cook and bake loads but since getting pregnant it has been a struggle first with the morning sickness then the SPD, but I am trying now to really make an effort as Jacob loves it so much, so I will keep you posted.
You will probably see pics of birthday cakes that he will be helping me make as he has such good ideas.
Your son is adorable btw madz, a proper little budding chef xxx
