What do you think? I read this article and my personal opinion is that (if the facts here are correct) there is a good chance she had PND and she should get help so she can get the children back. Instead they are already up for adoption. Now I know we dont know all the facts but the kids were not undernourished and I think we help and support over a period of time she could be a good mum.

I think children being taken from their parents should always be last resort.

Over to you...

Tough one really.  I do believe reading that very short article that her children needed to be removed from her care or lack of care.  I think it is a sad reflection on society.  Where were the 23 year olds parents and family.  A generation or so ago she would have had family support to help her learn how to look after her children which she obviously couldn't do on her own they would have taught her and shown her what to do and the children would have been cared for by extended family.

The psychology of living in a mess has been analysed a lot by psychologists and if you live in a tip then you get depressed.  Even without family or social support everyone knows that to leave pooh everywhere isn't hygenic.  What were her neighbours doing, didn't any of them do anything again another reflection on society.

I don't know if she deserved to loose her children forever but the court obviously think she did so we have to trust their judgement.  As someone pointed out in a comment if she had treated animals like that she wouldn't ever be allowed to keep an animal again.

Hmmm it's a tough one.... I'd say depression does seem to be the key councelling would help and definately more support, there doesn't seem to be alot around for any family, whether it be single mums or those who are disabled family member, your made to really hunt it all out.

Which is hard.... help should be easier to find and get.

But what shocks me is was the fact that they state 'the cruelty was not intentional but due to the mother's immaturity and inability to cope with proper parenting'.

Just goes to show we live in a community thats quick to point blame....i would be intrested to know if they'd tried to help her out in the past etc if not i think it's a shame.....
