hey all,

I thought i'd update you all!

I had my 32 wk scan today and consultant review too. For the last few midiwife visits i have had ketone in my urine, and today i had ++++ketone in there so that caused a bit of a talk...They asked if i had eaten etc which i had..asked about my fluid intake which i explained i only drink mineral water and i drink at least 2 ltrs a day lol. I have no clue what it means to have that much ketone.

The scan itself went well, baby is still not revealing its gender to us, and is still head down and low, made it hard to measure!

The estimated weight of baby is already 5lb4...and the boney measurements (femur length, head circumference etc) are all measuring 35+1!!

I am a little worried about that personally as if i go to 40 weeks this child will be huge!

I did try and address this with the locum doctor that was standing in for my consultant, however, he was polish and didnt seem to understand what i was saying, and kept on about the ketone, and my weight...erm yeah! Helpful!

I guess i will have to wait and see, i have another consultant appointment at 36 weeks, and i will call on the day and check if the consultant is definately there or else i will cancel that, i won't be seeing that doctor again, he knows little about my complications, and my history.

So that's how i am at the mo, worried to the bone that my child will grow too big to deliver (remembering Liam got stuck, and its written on labour notes he was shoulder dystosia)!

Ketones are produced when your body breaks down fat to produce energy so that is why they asked if you had eaten or not as the body starts to break down fat for energy if you don't eat properly.  High ketones in your urine can also be a sign of insulin deficency so a sign of pregnancy induced diabetes.  Having a large baby can also be an indication of this.  Did they say they wanted to run any tests or they wanted to see you again soon?

I wonder if you should call your midwife and explain the situation, especially about the doctor who could not understand you. It does sound similar to pregnancy induced diabetes. I don't know if anything can be done to help this or not but i do feel you shouldn't go another 4 weeks untill you see someone. You may need to be monitored in some way? Im no expert but if i was in the same situation i would call my midwife or doctor i think, especially as your last one got stuck and you are worried about that happening again.

Thanks for the input ladies, i see my mw on thursday, its the earliest i could get in lol...I will mention it all then, however, the way things have been going lately i am not entirely sure bubs will stay put much longer!

I have dropped already, it looks like i have a 20 wk bump now lol, and last couple of nights in the middle of sleeping i have been awoken to the worst pain ever at the bottom of my bump only to realise i was contracting! They are so so much more painful and pressurey than the bh's i have on a daily basis, i also have been having a show too! Maybe this baby is just more mature than they think?

I am so uncomfortable, it feels like my cervix is under lots of pressure, and my whole pelvic area there is aching, my bump feels tense all the time lol. However, i love it! It's exciting!

Awww hunny was only thinking about you yesterday. It's exciting to think bubs might be saying hi sooner rather than later.... good luck at the mw tomorrow and keep in touch.
