Ella is coming up on 6 months next week and so I was going to start to introduce things with gluten, such as pasta, bread etc

Does anyone know what the signs would be of a gluten intollerence? There is a v lose blood relative on DH's side who had a gluten intollerence, but HV said it was too distant.. but then I realised I wouldn't know what to look for.

I suspect poorly child, but wondered if anyone knew?

aaaah yay huni I know first hand the symptoms

My dd1 is coeliac (lifelong gluten free diet required)

symptoms vary from person to person but in a child, mainly:

failure to thrive

irritability and tearful

diahorrea (sp)

bloated tummy

windy tummy (passing wind too often )

pale stools

tired, no motivation

there are many symptoms hun, but these were my daughters main ones.  Ive kept all the subsequent babies gluten free till well over 12 months old, then ive introduced it gradually and looked out for symptoms, nobody else has any ill effects - yet.  Its a very strange condition, sometimes not showing any symptoms at all until people are in their 40s 50s and later, so Im always on the lookout.

hth

luv lilybxxx

This is Lilys' expert area but like she says there are many different symptoms to look out for.

Some children will vomit and have blood in their stools too.

My sil is gluten intolerant, it causes her to have dreadful headaches, sore joints, to feel bloated, put on weight as it makes her retain fluid, feel very tired all the time and lethargic and in general just not to feel all that well.
