 Hi ladies.
I posted a question a couple of days ago enquiring about spd and a c-section.
This is just an update really, and also a few other questions. (I am so glad I discovered this site!)
First, the update: I saw phsio again yesterday, and she noticed immediately how much the pain had increased in one week.  She asked me to do the usual, try to bend forwards, backwards, lift this leg up etc, etc. But was reluctant to do too much because she could see how much pain I was in, and didn't want to aggrevate it further. We didn't talk about labour positions, as i am 'only' 35 weeks, we will be discussing that next time, but I did mention about the ceasarian, and she seemed to be really understanding and could see my reasons for wanting one.  Only problem is, she cannot authourise it and I just have to wait until i see a consultant.  Still, seemed to be a positive appointment.
OK, so i said something the other day about my pain being trivial in comparison to all of your experiences.  I got up after typing that, (which took all of two minutes, so I wasn't sitting there for long) to suffer the most excruticiating pain i have ever felt!!  It started off just being a little more severe than the consistent pain I feel 24/7, so i waddled to the sofa and sat down there, but within seconds I was screaming to my husband "I can't sit anymore, help me up!!" Lucky he was at home. He tried to but i was bent over with pain and couldn't stand. So i tried to sit back down and couldn't do that either.  He handed me my crutches which were useless at this point so i threw them to the side!!  Anyway, i don't know how but he managed to drag me onto the bed through my screams (that doesnt sound too good but I'm sure you know what I mean!) We live in a flat so the living room is right next to our bedroom, yet i probably struggled for 10 minutes before i actually got there!!  Once in bed, i daren't move even a cm because each time i tried, the same extreme pain started up again.  This lasted about an hour until the painkillers kicked in.
Just goes to show me that there is no such thing as 'trivial' when it comes to spd/pgp.
(I would just like to add here that I only screamed in my last labour during delivery when i could feel myself tearing, I'm not usually that vocal about pain.  Just so you can understand the severity of what i was feeling).
Anyway, my question is, was this a one-off (although i have been feeling similar pain since but i realise straight away and quickly change position) or should i expect this for the rest of pregnancy now?  I was really terrrified at that point because i kept thinking if i have to go to the hospital or something, how will I get there.  Also, once that kind of pain strikes, is there anything i can do to reduce it in order to change position etc? Physio suggested that i should try not to tense up and do my excersises. (though she admitted it was easier said than done).
My other question is, I am currently taking co-codamol (sp?) which doesn't seem to do much, apart from make me drowsy, is there anything else the doctor would be willing to give me as this pain progresses or do i just keep taking something that doesn't even help?
I'm sorry but I am not very good at being concise, so i think all my posts are going to be long, and probably repetative!!
  Thanks xx

Hi

just a reply to the post above about diclofenac, this is contraindicated in
pregnancy, especially in the last trimester. It can damage the foetus.

It is best to go back to G.P who will recommend alternatives.

Hi

I'm glad the physio is on the ball and is noticing the pain increase etc, make sure she's noting it in your notes. Try to rest up and i know it's easier said than done.

As for medication when pregnant it really depends on your gp/midwife. My gp refused to prescribe anything more than paracetamol, other mum's have been known to have access with hospital admissions and monitoring with morphine.

Do ask, alot of medications haven't been tried during pregnancy, your consultant will have a better idea of what is safe to take as he's specalised in pregnancy and knows what you can/can't take, gp's have a bit of looking up and research to do. Might be worth asking your mw too.

Good luck x
