Hi there, I just joined today after having a really rough
time of it recently. My daughter was born in Jan 09 and in
March that year I eventually went to the doc's and was
diagnosed with PND and put on anti-depressants.
I was put on Sertraline as I was BFing and then in
September last year I stopped taking them cold turkey
because they made me feel totally numb - like I couldn't
laugh, or cry. If you'd punched me I'd have probably
smiled at you!
I went back to the doc's after hellish 3 months and they put
me on Citalopram which, to be honest, is making me feel
worse than ever. Its making me really nauseous so much
that I lose my appetite and can barely eat. I'm having
really bad bouts of depression interchanged with days
where I am feeling great - there doesn't seem to be any
middle ground. I'm just about managing to hold myself
together day to day but today I have just had the most
awful day. I didn't get dressed til well after my wee girl
went down for her nap and even then I was *this* close to
going back to bed. I feel like I'm on the verge of tears all
the time and really I just need someone who understands
to talk to me. So I'm hoping that this forum will help me
with that.

I'd also be interested in other peoples experiences of
Citalopram. I do plan on going back to the doctors but this
is only my second month on it now so I don't know if it'll
start working better soon.

Anyway sorry for such a full-on first post but like I said it's
not been a good day at all today.

You poor soul, xx.

I know how you feel. I've had pnd twice and been on Setraline although they gave me panic attacks. Citalopran seems to agree with me which I am on at the moment. You really should go back to the Dr's asap and see if they will change them again. It's all very well waiting for them to kick in but you need to get on the right track soon as.

Have you asked about any support groups in your area ?

This group is brilliant for advice and friendship so hang on in there you are definately not alone in this, xxx.

hi, deep breaths ok!

i know that it can be scary and frustrating when you keep going to dr and the meds they provide either dont help, or make other areas of your life unbearable. I would reccomend speaking with your dr about what type of options are now available.

I know that st.johns wort helped me with my PND but do not take it with anti depressants!

We are here to help you so please dont be a stranger. Remember that your child comes first...and he/she needs you to be at the top of your game. do not wait to seek advice and or help

please follow up with your course of action
