Hurrah!! Have found my lentil thing receipe...

Lentil Stew

25g dried red lentils
1 small potato, peeled and cubed
1/2 tsp tomato purée or tomato juice
1 small carrot, cubed
1 small onion

Place all ingredients in saucepan and just cover with water. Bring to the boil slowly and simmer until all liquid is absorbed and vegetables are softened. Cool a little and blend until smooth and creamy.

My book says from 8 months...

OK Lentil thing no 2.....

1 Onion
1 Leek
half oz butter
8oz carrots
1 medium potato
2oz lentils
half pint chicken stock

Saute the vegetables for 3 - 4 mins, add potato, lentils and stock and simmer for 40 mins.

Thats it!!

Have made some today for Ella and in my over zealous way decided to do 3 times the recipe - WHAT AN ARSE!!! There's enough for me and DH to have a full plate each for tea, and 2 full ice cube trays for Ella plus a portion in the fridge for her tomorrow!!!

So my advice - don't triple the recipe....

Here's my recipe for a delicious, nutritious finger food:

Funky Fishcakes

  • 500g potatoes
  • 50g butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 75g plain flour
  • 200g tinned tuna
  • 100g fresh or frozen sweetcorn
  • 100g fresh or frozen peas
  • one onion
  • 150g breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg beaten
  • sunflower/grape seed oil for frying

Peel the potatoes and then bring to the boil.  Add butter and a splash of milk to mash. Stir in the egg yolk and flour.

Put the tuna, sweetcorn, peas, and sliced onion into a mixing bowl.  Add the potato mix.  Stir and season if desired.

Form the mixture into 6 fish like shapes on a baking tray.  Chill in the freezer until firm.

Beat the egg and douse the fish.  Add the breadcrumbs and then fry lightly for 3-4 minutes

Both Max and Tom gave their Funky Fishcakes the thumbs up!
