Home Made Burgers

(adapted from LAkeland Ltd Burger maker Recipe) I make lots and freeze them.

800g Beef Mince (not too lean)
I large onion finely chopped
3 heaped tablespoons Dry Porridge Oats
2 small beaten Eggs
1 heaped teaspoon Mustard powder
1 Heaped teaspoon Mixed herbs
Sprinking of Salt and Pepper

You can then add what you like for flavouring - I find a couple of big squeezes of Tomato Ketchup and a good shake of worcestershire sauce adds lovely flavour.

Fry the onion until soft and leave to cool. Then mix all the ingredients in a bowl until mixed really well. I then put the mixture into the burger maker but if you havent got one take a lump out and mold it into a tight ball then press out into a burger shape. They will freeze well or cook under the grill or in a frying pan until well browned. This recipe makes roughly (depending on burger size) 14 burgers so enough for some for all the family and freeze some.

I bought a slow cooker a few weeks ago and have been totally converted.  I have done the usual stews, chicken and beef casseroles and today I am attempting a roast chicken in it.  I put it on 2 hrs ago and it smells delicious.

Just wondering if anyone else uses a slow cooker and what you cook in yours?

My chicken was amazing.  I chopped some carrots up and an onion and put it in the bottom of the slow cooker.  I added a clove of garlic and half a glass of white wine. I browned off the chicken in a pan and stuffed it with half a lemon and left it cooking for ages I think in total it was about 7 hrs.

It just fell off the bone, I couldn't believe how much more chicken i got than if i had done it in the oven.  The boys loved it and were fighting over second helpings of chicken so much so i had to share mine!

Will definitely be cooking this again,

I just need some new recipes to try other than stews!
