I have just spoken to my brother, things are very different in america to here when you have a baby. You have to stay in hospital for 48hrs after having a baby. Methods of pain control whilst in labour are epidural or nothing. Em opted for the epidural and it took them 8 attempts to get it in, she then couldn't feel to push so it took 45mins of pushing. You are not allowed to fall asleep whilst holding your baby so if Em feeds Poppy and Poppy falls asleep Em has to sit there holding her so she has had no sleep since friday. Poppy is constantly feeding as she is quite big and Ems milk hasn't come in yet. Thankfully Em will be home at around 9pm our time so my brother is sending her straight to bed. The doctors keep coming in the room every now and then and just taking Poppy away with no explanation, I would have hated that.
We might sl*g the NHS off but I would prefer the NHS any day to a US hospital.

Firstly congrats to Emma and her dh on their new arrival Poppy, and a very healthy weight.
But also i agree Sam that sounds awful at least they let you do things pretty much your own way in our hospitals, glad i didnt have to endure that sort of thing.
hope all is well and that she gets some rest, obviously very well earned and needed.
