hey...

is there such a thing as prenatal depression???

Maybe my hormones are starting to play up, but the past couple of weeks i have been really down, crying for no reason, not sleeping or eating much.

I know this time of year is gettin me down, its coming up to a year since i split with my ex, and im not going to spend xmas with taylor this year...

to be honest, im really not liking myself at the mo, im not joking about like i usually do, and i have cought myself just staring in to space thinking about stuff, really not like me.

I told my DP to get out of the house and dont bother coming back today... WTF!!! Just because he asked me if im ok cause i looked down...

I think i should check myself in with the white coats!!!

Yes hun..

unfortunatly there is, my sis had it very bad, she tried throwing herself down the stairs, self harming and everything all because so though she'd be a c**p mum and though she wouldnt be alble to cope with a baby.

Luckily she had a fantastic councellor and a very supportive dp.

She was put on an anti d (not saying you need it at all) whilst pg she was quite bad, it dissapeared when her lo was born which suprised everyone as everybody though she'd have pnd!

See how you go you might just be having a 'blue' patch

Big Bear hugs, hope you start to feel well again soon x

nicki, yes there is such a thing. its referred to as antenatal depression.

Its not talked about much, as its often put down to the change in hormones, but it is a very real, and very treatable condition.

With hindsight, I think I had antenatal depression and if I'd looked for help then, my postnatal depression might not be so severe.

I would chat it through with your gp - please don't let it run, as if you are suffering believe me, it really is better to get help as soon as possible! If you did need antidepressants, there are some that are safe to take when pregnant.

I hope that you will talk to your gp and feel free to let off steam on here. you're not alone - I promise you...
