Don't think it's hit me properly yet - think I'm in denial!

Archie is 20 weeks (where did that go?) and my 6 months mat. leave is up. Feel sad about leaving my little boy, especially as he still doesn't drink anything except from my boobs! Believe me, we've tried everything!  Still, he's on 3 meals a day now, so he won't starve.

Also nervous and excited, as I'm going back to a different school so it's all new. Doing pm only the first week which shouldn't be too bad.

Lo will be with dh when he's not working and with my mum when he is. I know he'll be in good hands, but the longest I've been away from him is 2 hours!

Still, won't be long to the summer hols. Have to get there first though!

Good luck.  I am sure you will get used to it quickly and it's the summer holidays very soon.  It's nice when lo can stay with their Daddy or Grandma he will have a great time with them.  It will make the time you do get to spend with him doubly nice.

Hi Archiesmummy.  I went back to work as a job share when Tom was just 5 weeks old!  My circumstances are abit different as we don't live in the UK for a start so I don't get maternity pay.  But I live literally 24 seconds from my office so I pop back at 3 times during the day to check on both my boys.  I find it hard keeping up with expressing as Tom eats for Britain and feel knackered by the end of the day.  My hours are 8am-3pm so I get to spend quality time with the boys.  I know what you mean though it is really hard leaving them.  When I left Max for the first time he was 8 months old.  I had to attend a training course in London and I left him with my mum in Lincoln.  I had a 2 week course and I would visit him at the weekend, by the end of the last week I was in tears!

Thankyou for your replies ladies.

Wow mum2maxtom, I definately couldn't leave him for a week! I'm not surprised you were in tears!!

Wish I didn't have to leave him at all, but that's life when you're the main wage earner. Think I might pop out and buy a lottery ticket - you never know! If I win I'll arrange a big party where we can all meet. I'll even pay for your ticket mum2maxtom

p.s. that's only if I win the jackpot - not just a tenner!

I really admire you for going back to work. I just couldn't bring myself to do so and even though I was the main wage earner hubby was great in letting me hand my notice in.

Good Luck and like the other mums said you're time together will be more special.
