I take it I would boil a carrot before blending it down to nothing. I have tried her on a wee teaspoon of baby rice each day for last 3 days and now want to introduce something else. I have carrots so thought grate I will just blend one down but now presume I boil it first? Any advice would be great as I only ever fed Beks from jars or packets but now have a blender so thought would give this a shot and also probably much healthier. Scared to tell hv that I am weaning so not asking for advice there. Anyhow I am taking it really slowly so don't see that it will cause her much harm Presumptiously (spelling) thanking you all as I know everyone will be busy this time of year.

Check out the spelling. I was thinking of using the grater at the time (you would never guess) and said "grate instead of great".

clean and peel  then cut in slices boil do not add salt though  when cooked put into a bowl the blend and serve. you could always add a potatoe at later stage if you wish.

About 10 mins any longer and you start destroying the vitamins it contains. Obviously it also depends on your blending method too, if you don't have an electric blender and are going to be using the sieve and spoon method you may have to soften then a little more.

Have you tried Butternut Squash as well, that seems popular and easier to get hold of these days in the supermarket, Olls loves it.

i gave my lo too many orange veggies out of the jars when we first got to trinidad (for convenience) and he had an orange tinge!!

i took him to the dr for his vaccinations and she picked me up on it

thanks Helen and Flip. I am going to try butternut squash (forgot the name of it, thanks for reminding me). Will try hunting it down after xmas. I did buy a blender about a year ago but have never used it. I will need to find the instructions

Thanks again. After I mushed it all down I thought I should have boiled/cooked this. Luckily I have not  given her it yet so she should still survive. God I even sterilise the spoons and plates she eats off but never boiled her wee carrot. She can give the rest of that carrot to Rudolph.

Check out Sams article she did that might help, there are a few ideas on it, Avacado is another great one because it can be mixed with savoury and sweet dishes.
