I recomended egg white to Zo.. she agreed it was good and worked for her LO, but other than that just leave her with out a nappy as long as you can b4 butting one on her.. see how it goes

Hello Mamma2!!!

Ella had nappy rash for 5 weeks recently, its only just cleared up. At one point she had thrush - heres the post which may or may not help.. http://www.madmums.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2763&PN =4

Heres some of the things I did:

  • Don't use any soap or bath products in her bath
  • Use a barrier cream like sudocrem at every change
  • Let her go without a nappy for 30mins to an hour a few times a day - Pampers change mats are brill for this as they soak everything up!!!
  • change her nappy more often so that she's not sitting in anything
  • use cotton wool and water instead of wipes

If it goes into a really angry red, it might be worth getting it checked at the docs.

Hope she's better soon!!

Edward is like this too. He has only had it twice and both time have been when his top teeth have been on the move. I know how you feel about being a bad mum, I was in tears changing Ed's nappy as he was in so much pain, but it isnt your fault.

I havent tried the egg white - do you have to whip it or anything?

Other than that Metanium nappy cream is good - my hv recommended it.

Definately try the no nappy on for as long as possible and using water and cotton wool instead of wipes. Hope she is better soon.

aw bless your dd

tom suffers bad when teething too.  he gets a dribble rash on his chin and flushed red cheeks.  he loses his appetite and gets bouts of diarrhoea. its horrid.

like helen said the egg white thing really does work.  better than any cream ive used.  i whisk it first so its easier to apply and isnt as slimy! lol

leaving the nappy off is also a good idea.  like dizie said use a changing mat or put down a big towel.  they can always go in the wash.  im lucky that weve got tiled floors and a good mop!!

hth and she gets better soon. zo x

Fantastic - thanks for the advice Vix

Yuor welcome Madz!  It's amazing what you'll try when you can't find the usual stuff! lol  I'd never heard of it til I got the free trial in the bounty pack!  and tha was with Fred! If only I'd known about it when the others were younger as ds2 was terrible with nappy rash!

Egg white does the trick for thomas. he also had trouble when
he was teething.
there is also cream you can buy called Drapolene which is an
antiseptic cream (pink stuff) which is good also.
