There are no UK laws that cover this, there are however social guidelines laid down for Council Housing and Housing Trusts, to protect tenants that say that once a child reaches 12 (may different slightly between local authorities), which is considered puberty that they should not have to share a bedroom with another member of the household who is not of the same gender. This gives these tenants the right to apply for larger accommodation.
The only exception to this is foster children who are privately fostered, there is a section within the Children Act 1989 (section 1.4.31) that loosely translates that foster children over 2 should not be placed where they have to share a bedroom with a sibling or other member of the foster family.
