None of mine have had this but I think you can rub oil into it.  Something like sunflower, olive or grapeseed oil woud be fine.  You shouldn't pick it to the extent that you make it sore but I think it is alright to take off the flakey bits on the top.

It's one of those things that looks unatractive but really doesn't bother baby.  It's just a build up of skin cells.

i heard a tip once was to smear vaseline on lo's head before going to bed and then comb it out in the morning not tried it though.

have u tried dentinox shampoo worked really well on ds. If it is really bad speak to your hv they can actually prescribe something else to help clear it up.

hth

massage baby oil or olive oil on aimee's head, wash her hair about half hour later, morning and night, Fred had it real bad and although it's a slow process, it's almost all gone, and rigorously dry her hair, to help it come off, don't pick it will hurt her! hth

ellie's had this - gently rub olive oil onto it a good few hours before a bath.  just before the bath, brush it with a soft baby brush to loosen it.  then comb it out, then wash the hair.  I did this for 3 days and ellie's is almost all gone.  hope that helps!
