We all got up at normal time to get ready for school this morning.  My daughter had her breakfast then i told her it was time to put her uniform on.  She burst into tears and said she didnt want to go.  My daughter loves school.

I sat her on my knee and asked her what was wrong.  She wouldnt say.  I asked her if someone was being mean to her at school and she said yes but it took me about 10 min to get it out of her.  It turns out its one of the teachers helpers.  She has two other teachers that she adores she runs to them in the mornings for cuddles and they adore her to.  I also have a bit of a problem with the teacher my daughter doest like as she talks to the children in quite a harsh way.  I nearly gave her a slap before christmas.

I have kept my daughter off school today as she was in such a state this morning i was not going to force her uniform on her and drag her to school.  I am going to phone the school later and make an appiontment to speak to her proper teacher tomorrow as she wants to go to school tomorrow as this helper wont be there, i think she only helps out 2 or 3 days.

What do i do then?  This helper will still be at the school and i cant let my daughter stay off every day that she is there.  I send my child to school to be educated in a happy environment not to have mean helpers and not to be dreading goiong to school for half the week because the bitch (sorry) will be there.

My daughter is only 4 years old.

Trudi.

The only thing you can do is what you have done - take to you dd's teacher.

I would explain the state she gets herself in whenever you mention school to her and ask if the teacher has noticed anything with regards to the teaching assistant chances are tho she wouldnt have.

Also i would try and have another word with your dd and try and find out abit more of what has gone on - i know how difficult this is as my ds is 3 and i cant even get what he has had for lunch out of him

My advice to you would be make yourself very known in the school. My attiude is if you are seen to be attentive and approachable things generally get sorted out very quickly.

If there is even a whisper of a problem with my childrens schooling I approach there teacher in a non aggressive manner, and I always keep the problem and discussions confidential. This has worked for me and I have excellent relations with the teachers...in fact half the time we end all meetings with a  laugh about something! (usually the weaker sex!)

Giid Luck remeber assertive NOT aggressive
