did anyone see the news today at lunchtime? there was a topic on breastfeeding. it said that some mums feel under too much pressure to breastfeed and that breastfeeders also feel under pressure to ff. it also said that 30% of the population of the uk dont even attempt breastfeeding, compared to just 2% in sweden! shocking!

luv sarah

Nope never saw it, but I can believe the statistics.  Round here it depended on the mw you got as to how much pressure your under, i told three of them I was struggling the best they could do was tell me to call them!  One of them told me do what feels right to you, if you don't get on with it, then switch in the end it's your decision! I was so happy once I had gone to formula! I knew what he was taking, and he drank well, it turned out I didn't have the milk supply even though I was eating and drinking ok, the stress and the tired caught me off guard!

i didn't see that hun, i didn't attempt to bf dd#2 and dd#3 but did dd#1 and i fed ds.  It didn't work for me but i think you should be left to make your own mind up about what you want to do.

I can well believe the statistics.  Having had 3 children and having fed them all differently.  When I bottle fed I was made to feel a failure and like I had let my child down.  When I mix fed people couldn't understand why I didn't just stick to one type of feeding and stop messing around.  As it was Fran was on special milk because she was ill and needed both types.  With Ollie I have had concerns about how much he is getting and whether it is enough or to much.  You can't win so I just do what I want to do now as long as my children are happy that is what is important to me.
