As alot of you know i have had fred on packets as he wouldn't touch my food!  Well for just over a week now he has been quite happy to have pureed fruit, doesn't like the feel of lumps, but will not touch savoury.  He's not keen on finger foods either, he puts them to his tongue then throws them on the floor!  Does anyone have any suggestions, as mom weaned my last 3 for me!  And I am determined I want to get the hang of it before lo 5 comes along.  I'm not willing to let the next one start on anything but my food!

well they do say you need to offer lo the food at least more than once so they can get use to the taste. But I would give food first and bottle afterwards it seemed to help then again Lo would eat anything.

The more I offer savoury the less he eats! And I always give food first as I learnt that trick very early on!  He's taken to pureed fruit as I said so I'm not too worried, I just wanted him to have savoury.  I know it won't do him any harm as dd was on puddings to start with then was quite happy to switch!

have you tried him with carrots/swede/parsnips/butternut squash/red pepper?

Those are quite sweet so maybe he'd eat those?

or mix some of the savoury in with the fruit - Ellie used to love squash with apple..

I'd try veg that is naturally sweet, like parsnips, butternut, sweet potato etc. What about trying butternut & pear, chicken with apple, chicken with grape? They are good recipes, easy to make and the fruit really comes through when cooking so he might not be so put off by it?

Parsnip and apple is another good one. Sweet potatos are fantastic and so is squash!

Tom's going through the same stage.  Have you seen the thread 'help with a fussy eater'.  There is some useful advice there.

I have been known to dip Tom's savoury in fruit yoghurt before.  Have you tried letting Fred feed himself?  Of course, he won't be able to, but I get the feeling that they like to try at this age.  We give Tom a spoon to hold with food on it and try and ignore the thick gooey mess on the floor!!

If he refuses to eat anything I make him, whether it be finger foods or savoury I give him a banana. Works everytime!

Ed wont touch bananas!

Gonna try more finger food tonight!

I find Ed eats better when we go out. I think its because he has something to take his mind off eating. He always finishes his food at my mums!
