Hiya

Firstly can I just say well done to Dizie on your sleep article - its really good

I have been having a bit of a nightmare recently with Lily and she seems to be going backwards when it comes to sleep.  She started to sleep through at 8 weeks and was down at half 7/8ish every night until 7/7.30 next morning.  Now she goes down at the same time but has started waking at midnight again and refuses to go back down - last night it was half 1 before she went down again!

I really don't know what is causing it!  Shes eating more now and I think shes getting enough through the day plus she still has a load of milk on top of solids so it can't be hunger.  She isn't really interested in her bottle when she wakes.  She doesn't seem to be in any pain although last night she did sound a bit nasally.  But that doesn't explain every other night!!

really don't know what to do!!  Is it just a phase that'll pass??

I am not used to it as I say cos she has always slept and so did Ellis!!

I know this is nowhere near as bad as some of the stuff you all go through regarding sleepless night, but just don't know what else to try!!!!!!!

Hi Fee

I think it's just a phase!  Fred has been doing the same and it really is toughto cope with as he went through from an early age, the good news is that he has slept throughfor just over a week now!  I know it feels horrible, and you don't like to moan especially when you hear how bad others have had it, but when your used to your full nights sleep it can be worrying!

It may just be lo is coming down with a cold or has teeth coming through.  I found giving fred some teething gel and a dose of something before bed actually helped! and with medised helping them breathe easier I would recommend it.  But as dizie said in he article, every baby is differrent

All i can say is how sorry i am ladies.  I have never had any sleepless nights.  Rachel slept through from the first night we got her home and with Jack it took me about 3 days to get him sleeping through.  They both now go to  bad at 7pm and i wake them at 7.30am for school.  At weekends if i leave them to sleep they can sleep up till about 11am.  They get it from thier dad lol.  Even when they were both newborns the latest they were ever awake was 7.30pm unless they were ill of course.

Trudi. xx

aw fee, I do feel for you!   perhaps it has now just become a habit that she wakes - does she seem ill, teething or anything like that?  I've just got one of those sudafed plug in things because Ellie has a cold and I have to say it is fantastic!

But, if it's not illness, have you considered something like controlled crying or pick up put down?  We did controlled crying with madam a few weeks ago and it did work and it wasn't as bad as I feared because I knew there was nothing wrong with her, it was just habit waking her..

now if she wakes in the night, we rarely go into her room - we found that if we try to settle her, it wakes her more and it is difficult for her to go back to sleep -

she has started waking now thru the night but just talking/making car noises (brum brum) and then going back to sleep!  quite cute at first but v annoying after a while because we can't sleep thru it..aggh!

Hope things improve soon - I'm just off to read Dizie's article!

Hopefully it's just a stage and maybe like some of the others suggested it could be down to teething. Callum's always been a rotten sleeper, one of those kids that doesn't need much sleep and it took us ages to get him into a routine and then last September he fell out of it and we're still having trouble getting him back into sleeping through the whole night without waking and he's 2.5 years old!

It may well be teeth but she isn't showing any other symptoms of having any coming in

I am going to buy some medised today and try that - I have never used it before but have read a lot of good things on here about it

Greedy - I tried the controlled crying thing last night with her but I would probably be still doing it now she was having none of it! And cos dd1 started to stir I packed it in - couldn't have coped with 2 grumpy girls!! (well 3 if you include me lol).  It may be something she will just stop doing (hopefully soon!!)

Thanks for your advice and I'll let you all know how I get on tonight!!

If you see me on here at some ungodly hour you'll know its not gone well

PS Just realised I have put this in the wrong forum - should be in Babies and toddlers oops.  Flip feel free to move it if you want lol

Oh Fee. Sorry no words of wisdom here. We have been trying the controlled crying and then giving in cause she starts coughing so much we think she is choking. Also think my lo still a bit young for it.

It must be hard if you think your youngest is going to wake the other one up. Have you tried offering her a drink of water just incase it is thirst. Aww hope it improves and you get a sleep.
