euans had wee bits of white choc here and there, and a tiny bit of
icecream (1/2 teaspoon) when he was teething. dp mum once gave him
a spoonful of rich choc moose, and a spoon of custard (bloody canned
stuff) when he was 4 months. needless to say i had a bit of a go at her!

i agree with jopsy.

diabetes runs in my family and obesity is also linked to it so we are very conscious about our diets.

both boys eat healthily-i.e. a treat is a banana apple or a piece of toast with a smudge of jam or smooth peanut butter.  they love their treats!

we don't eat crisps except when drinking and very rarely eat chocs or sweets ourselves.

don't get me wrong max and tom have had sweetie treats but very very rarely.  their health and well being is far too important.

zo x

Devlin has white chocolate I dont think its a good thing to give lo's too much junk food at at young age it wont do any good. Once they get the taste for nice sweet  things forget trying to get them to eat proper food. I let him have crackers and he has had some cheesy crisps well they were for Devlin but the girls got them first. little buggers

We dont have crisps in the house so Ed has never tried them - I worry about the salt content too.

He has tried chocolate buttons and choc and orange cake but only crumbs. He loves rich tea biscuits and raisins - they are his treats.

I am very careful with his diet and noone else gives him treats without asking me first so I know he is healthy.

(He doesnt have sweet drinks either - only water)

I don't give Niamh anything like that! she has had a taster of white chocolate and a bit of a muffin I had but thats it. She doesn't have juice...she loves water. She doesn't know any different!

I agree that the eating habits you set now are with them for life and giving them a sweet tooth so young is probably not a great idea!! not to mention what it will do to their teeth.

I agree.  What he's never had, he wont miss.   Although his silly Grampa gives him bits of scone sometimes when he stays at theirs.  We did tell him off a few times....Then he got the message last time.  He's always sick at bedtime when he comes home from his Grandparents house from all the rubbish he gives him here and there.

Cerys has tried white buttons but she really hated them, she has also tried one quaver which she didn't like either.  She has had the normal buttons and she likes those but she has only had one pack and I ate most of them and the rest of them lasted a week LOL.  She tried a small amount of ice-cream the other day and she has tried jelly.

I have a nightmare because DH seems to think she is going without if she doesn't get these things but I don't want her to have them yet.  My mil is the same she wanted me to start giving CJ tea but I won that battle. CJ doesn't even have juice she just has water. Mil gave CJ jelly without really asking me, DH gave CJ ice cream, the woman who owns the newsagents over her gave me the white buttons for CJ which I did feed her a couple so I'm guilty of that one and the brown ones I brought for her for easter.

I agree about the diet thing though I didn't even let CJ have a childs yoghurt until she was about 8 or 9 months old, although I do have to say I have no problem with any food with her she eats everything we make for her so I really can't complain.

Sorry I have waffled again... why can't I keep my posts short????

molly has tried mini cheddars, quavers, & skips, dh gave her a pickled onion space raider the other day which she hated, she also has white buttons or bits of a milky bar,

she doesnt have these very often but now and then as a treat, and i dont see much harm in that, as i always look forward to my treats!!!
