You shouldn't leave it until after 6mnths as babies Iron deposits have dwindled by then and they need Iron in their diets to remain healthy.
I tried Ollie a week ago on baby rice he wasn't interested and gagged on it. He seems to have settled down at the moment again on just milk so going to leave it as long as possible as I don't want to upset his tummy with his abcess being sore.

I started Fred at just 6 weeks! I know that age is by all rules way too early, but he was taking 8oz, every 2-3 hours, and still screaming for more! Although my hv advised me against it, and told me not to increase his millk intake, after a week of pure hell, I decided to try him on just one spoon of baby rice. It went down well with him, and within 24 hours, he was back to his normal placid, happy little self. He's now on 2 solid feeds a day and still takes 20oz of milk, as well as 8oz at least of juice. He's more content, and his weight gain has slowed down, to the point my hv's are happy with his progress. Thye now want to monitor his weight to make sure he doesn't gain too much more, but he's thriving and they can't believe it!

i tried aimee on a little food at 11 weeks, she was grumpy after eating it for the two days i gave it her for. i decided she wasn't ready. she's nearly 14 weeks now and i tried her with some rusk yesterday, i mixed half a rusk with her milk and she loved it. I'll be doing the same today

i plan on weaning ashton when he is 6 months old and one week. he is exclusively breastfed at the minute and thriving! he puts weight on every week and is a very tall baby too. breastmilk contains iron so i am not worried that he will be lacking in any. the reason i am leaving it a week after he is 6 months old is because dp wil be working on the day that he turns 6 months and we both want to be there when he has his first tastes of solids. dp will be joining the forces again soon so he will prob miss out on loads of milestones with ashton which is sad, thats why he wants to be there too!
i have spoke to breastfeeding counsellor and hv about this and they both say that one week wont make a difference, especially as he is doing so well. he is still quite a sicky baby (possibly intolerant to dairy in my diet we think) so an extra week for his digestive system to mature cant do much harm!

I plan on waiting until 6 months exactly (or as near as damit!). Edward is thriving on being excusively breastfed and seems very happy. He is 3 months today and gaining weight well.
I am taking him to spain in september when he will be 5 months and I really dont want to be worring about food then. I find breastfeeding so easy and conveinient!

Ellen is nearly 14wks and is doing fine on 6oz bottles every 4-5hrs and is sleeping through most of the night. If she starts getting really hungry i will start her on baby rice and rusks. She is not a very hungry baby and usually with two of her bottles she leaves abot 3oz so she is fine at the mo.
