I plan to wean my Guzzle Guts around the 4 months mark.  I weaned Max at 17 weeks and he thrived.  Tom is constantly feeding through the day, but sleeps 11 hours without a feed so if he's happy with that then so am I.

I'll try to last until Roan is just over the 16 wks (he's nearly 13) - if he has any fists left as he keeps jamming them in his mouth & sucking like mad!

He's still on 5-7oz of sma gold every 3-4hrs & sleeps thru the nite - so seems happy enough.

i started weaning ryan at 15 weeks, i would have like to have left it a few more weeks but doctor adviced to start weaning as he was starting to refuse his milk. Luckily it obviuosly was the right time for him as he took to it so quickley and he was eating 3 decent meals a day by 6 months and finger foods, he is now 9 months and almost of jars totally. do not regret weaning when i did one bit. ryan was 100% ready

Wow, jen thats great!  I am so grateful that Fred is feeding now, he seems so much happier and alot more content theses days.  He doesn't scream for his bottles either liks he always used to, and now he has juice at 1 feed, he will drink it at extra times during the day when he's whingey, which is great. At least he won't get dehydrated in this warm wether, which was my main concern when he first started taking solids and not touching fluids other than milk!

Ellie is 14 weeks and seems quite content with just breastmilk - I have heard that breastfed babies wean later but I have no idea why...?  She is putting on weight ok and only feeds every 4 hours so there's no need for me to think about this just yet...

I think it's because the fat content in breastmilk changes over time as baby gets older.  Breastmilk apparently changes a lot threw out the time you feed there was a recent study done on breastmilk from new born to 2yrs old and it was found to vary dramatically with regards to it's content of nutrients and fats.  Formula milk obvioulsy never changes unless you change milk so am guessing that ff babies need solid food earlier to sustain them.
