I've recently been suffering quite badly with postnatal depression, along with my 2 major ops last year, my split with the hubby and becoming a single mum and things really started getting ontop of me.

went to see my doc bout 3 months ago, was put on happy pills.  They didn't work and i kept going back and my dose was upped.

Without going into detail I hit rock bottom on my birthday last week and knew then that i had to get this sorted once and for all.  I went back to my doctor, and seeing as i was on the maximum dose of the pills i was on she decided to change the medication.

I've only been on them since Friday, but was told that because i had previously been on something different they shouldn't take the usual time to kick in.

Well....today and yesterday i've been bouncing, not latting anything get ontop of me and at last I feel like i can smile when i wake up in the morning...even when it's 5am and 4 kids are shouting...hehe.

I'm hoping that this is the start of things to come and i can get back to my normal happy self.

Sorry this post is real long, but i wanted to let you know how things were going, but at the same time give others hope that things can get better, and if you are on happy pills like i was and they dont work, dont give up!!!!

I really hope so hun!

I have been on loads of different anti d's and it took ages to find the right one for me but we got there eventually. I've been off them for over 18months now!

Good luck!

I really hope things are getting better for you.

I haven't had Post Natal depression but I have been depressed in the past and it's such a horrible feeling.

Keep smiling mind you sounds like you are I must admit I really struggle at 5am in the morning if CJ wakes me

FGreat to hear things are getting better. I'm still battling along but I really don't want to go back on meds again.

hey hazy...i didn't want to go back on meds either, i was pretty bad after having ds just less than 6 years ago, but i got to a point where i knew i had to do something for the sake of my kids.

If you can get through on your own, then good for you, but dont be afraid to get treatment, it's long term help and you'll feel so much better

haha...i think that'll be the ultimate cure vix.  Well, i went shopping today, spent £25 on paints, paper, glue and sticky things for the kids to have a riot.  You dont want to see the state of my room...arghhhhhhhhhhhhh.

It's been a real fun day with the kids and Joshua..haha..he aint asked for his mum once, he must be starting to like me after 3 years.

I'm still smiling dispite the state of my house...lol
