I'll just type it in. I couldn't find the one I wrote to her;
"My due date came and went, so I tried everything from eating pineapple to hot curry sause it attempt to kick start my labour. 5 days after my due date (she got that wrong it was about 9 days) I had what felt like strong period pains. They were 10 minutes apart, but I felt uncomfortable and couldn't sleep. I called the hospital and they told me to hold on at home for a bit longer. I'd never been in labour before, so I didn't know what to expect. David stayed up all night with me and I didn't sleep all night. The following morning, my contractions were still around 10 mins apart, but they were bearable, so I packed my hospital bag and called the midwife. She told me to take some painkillers, have a another bath and prepare to go to the hospital that evening. When we arrived at the hospital I was examined and found to be 1cm dilated so I went to the TV room for a few hours. As the pain grew stronger I dropped to my knees with every contraction and held onto David's legs. I felt quite embarrassed as there were 2 other ladies inthe room and they seemed to be dealing with the pain quite calmly. After a while a nurse gave me some sleeping pills and I slept for about 3 hours. But the gfollowing morning I hadn't progressed any, so I was then sent home. I was exhausted and disapointed but within the hour of arriving home, I was sick. I felt so tired, weak and frightened. I hadn;t slept for days. We headed back to the hospital around 3pm, but I was still only 1cm dilated. We spent the afternoon on the ward and by the evening, David and I were the only people there. The midwife gave me some gas and air to help me cope with the pain which was getting worse. My midwife reassured me the birth pool was available, but watching Saturday night TV distracted me from the pain, so I stayed where I was! A few hours later, we were taken to the delivery room, but I was only 3cm dilated. By 2am my labour hadn't progressed any and the midwife offered me an epidural. It was the last thing I wanted so I had a shot of morphine instead. The midwife said if my labour didn't progress in the next hour, a dr would examine me to see if I needed an emergancy Csection. Thankfully my labour progressed so quickly and within that hour I was 10cms dilated and ready to push. David encouraged me with every pusg, before he ran to the toilet in the room feeling ill. He returned just in time to see the babies head crowning. I followed the midwifes instructions and eventually our beautiful baby boy was born! David was really proud and emotional and he cut the cord, then Travis was handed to me and we had our first family cuddle!
My god that was long!
