I am talking about annual payrises in line with inflation not payrises for doing the job. Also every year in January we get a bonus for the work we have contributed to the company for that year, it is paid in Januarys pay because I started my mat leave at the end of the January with Ollie I didn't get the bonus even though I had worked for the previous year. I am certainly not asking for anything I haven't earnt or for a free handout.
I contacted HR last time I went on mat leave and they assured me as a company they had a good record regarding maternity leave and returning to work, the problem with our branch we are the furthest south and no one really pays attention to the fact my boss does what he feels like most of the time.
It is very easy to say bosses can't do what they want but try proving any of it when it's not written down. If I ask for a job description which I have done twice since working there I am told to write down what I do and then that is my job description. There is no set bonus rate at the end of the year it is what the boss feels like giving us so the people he likes get big bonuses and the people he isn't so keen on get smaller bonuses.
The maternity rights are changing in April 2007 to 9mnths paid leave.
Thank you to everyone for their advice.
