This is becoming such a problem.

Whenever Max is being disciplined he wees.  It doesn't matter if I ask before hand if he needs to go, he always says no, but does it anyway.

I've tried to ignore it, but it hasn't worked.  After this happening several times I'm ashamed to admit that I lost my temper with him.  I'm at a loss as to how to deal with it.  My patience is wearing thin.

Does/has anyone else's lo do/done this?  If so, how did you deal with it?

None of mine have done this but there could be a few reasons why he does it.  1) it's because he is upset, he knows he is in the naughty corner because he has done something wrong and is embarrased or upset about it so wees. 2) he gets a reaction when he does wee, kids love attention and negative attention is better than no attention at all.  I think the way I would tackle the problem is to ignore the fact he has wee'd.  Leave him in the naughty corner for the normal length of time that you would use it if he hadn't wee'd, once he has finished his punishment very mater of factly get him sorted out down playing however cross you may feel about it just treat his wetting himself as you would normally like it isn't a big issue.

Thanks Sam will try it that way.

DH jokingly asked if we could rub his nose in it like they do with dogs.

He was met with an icy glare!

Joshua used to wee if I was telling him off but it was usually there on the spot not like Max he seems to be waiting for you to put him in the naughty corner. Do you actually use a corner or the stairs? Do you change him straight away? LIke Sam said maybe leave him for the full legnth he was meant to be in there before changing him. Hope it sorts itself out babe, maybe is just an attention thing??

I thought the whole idea re: the naughty corner was for time out.  So in answer to your question, Jopsy, I guess he doesn't like it, but then is he supposed to?  But then there have been circumstances where Max has had warnings, but then decides to take himself off to the naughty corner anyway!  A tad confusing, don't you think!! lolol

He uses the toilet v. well and often, but when he's excited or preoccupied he tends to wet himself.  Fortunately he doesn't poo himself, not even in the pool when he's all snug in his floatie suit which is a bugger to peel off!! I cringe to think my son is so frightened of his mother that he wees himself.  This is not an issue I take lightly and want to address it urgently.  I love my little boy to distraction and would never lightly 'punish' him.

So DH and I have talked about it.  We're agreement that we'll keep the naughty corner (yes it's a corner not a step) as Max equates that with being naughty.  But if he wees while in the corner, we won't make a fuss as Sam suggested and see how we go. Thinking about it Max probably wees there for a reaction than anything else. We do smack him sometimes, although I don't like doing it, but it seems to be a quick solution at times.  Max is only put into the corner after a warning.  I then count to 5, not just for him, but for me also.  It keeps me calm!

I must admit I have found last week particularly daunting, lonely and exhausting being on my own and my patience hasn't been long, but I don't beat my son nor does he go without praise and lots of cuddles when warranted.

Sorry, if the post seem abrupt - it really wasn't supposed to be, but I felt I should try and clarify where we're coming from.

Max is just a normal little boy, testing the boundaries like every other child his age.  As his parents we guide him as to where those boundaries are.

Thanks for all the advice.

Numpty! We werent doubting you babe! Joshua has a naughty corner although we just use the stairs. Of course he has to be told when he has done something wrong. The wee'ing is less likely to be that of being frightened but more about being shocked, or as you say for a reaction. You probably do this already, but once sent to the naughty corner for whatever it is, before bringing him out go over, crouch to his level and talk to him about why he was sent there and what he should do different next time. I find los respond much better from talking than shouting, although we all loose our temper from time to time. I hate shouting at Joshua, and I know it gets me no where but I still do it sometimes. We also have the counting thing, but usually before being told off...thats his warning if I get to 3 he is in trouble! I hope he settles down for you soon babe, huge and kisses xxxx

lolo Thanks for the reassurances, Chris.

I mean that I count first.  He has til 5 and if he doesn't do as he's told he goes in the naughty corner.

We had one accident today, but not in the naughty corner-hurrah!!  Instead he decided to wee in the car just as we pulled up outside the house.  No fuss was made except to say that next time he has to say he needs a wee wee.

He's a good boy really, but it was be nice to crack down on these little accidents. Would save on cleaning products too!

Thanks again.  Been feeling abit sensitive about this, but I don't bite really!
