I've started to give Max Omega-3 supplements once daily to see if it would help with his concentration. According to the box Omega-3 also helps with:
Maintaining healthy brain function
Maintaining levels of concentration
Promoting healthy brain and eye development for infants and young children
Max is on Bassett's Soft & Chewy Omega-3 with essential vitamins A,C,D & E which are supposed to promote healthy bones, teeth and gums and helps to build up a resistence to infection.
When I enquired about giving supplements to Max in Trinidad the Pharmacist claimed that there is no valid medical research to suggest that Omega-3 actually maintains levels of concentration.
What I want to know has anyone else giving their toddler Omega-3 and found that is has made an improvement to their levels of concentration. Secondly, how do you measure concentration?

I give Edward lots of Oily fish. He loves mackeral which is high in omega 3. He has eye problems so I was hoping it might help that.
I'm not sure how you measure concentration but I'm sure as a parent you will notice any change if there is one. It takes a long time with vitimins and the change will be gradual but good luck!

I have never given a child this but have work with a child taking omega 3. This child never sat still didnt concentrate, was an all round monkey but she was lovely. Her mum never told us she was giving her omega 3 and over a few days I started noticing that she was calming down and sitting still in circle times and things. I was gassbagging to her mum and mentioned it, it had always been a giggle about how much of a monkey she was. Her mum said she had put her on omega 3 2 weeks earlier and didnt tell us because she wanted to see if there was actually a change or if her parents were imagining it. So I'd say whatever it does do it helped this little girl, as far as I know she still takes it and is a whole different girl to what she was when I worked with her.
Hope it works for max and see some improvements soon babe xxx

I have been giving Harrison omega 3 for months now, he used to have the eye-q liquid but it got too expensive as its a tenner a go, so he now has boot's own brand,He has a spoonful twice a day and it took about 10 weeks for me to really notice a difference in him, he isnt as boisterous and loud and his teacher has also passed comment about his concerntration levels.

Taylor has been on the chewy tablet ones for a few weeks now.. i haven't really seen a difference tbh. He ask's for his "bwainy" tablets each morning...
I will keep giving him them as they have other added vitamins.. hopefully in time they might make him calm down a little bit.

The BBC published a story about Omega 3 recently - you can read it HERE
I give Ella Eye-q liquid as she's gone off fish recently. She used to love it, but now is not so tollerent. (Rin, it is bloomin expensive isn't it! I bought some with my boots points when it was on 3 for 2. grrrr)
I take an omega 3 suppliment myself, so thought I'd give her the benefit too.

I couldn't tell you zo in all honesty. Ben and his girlfriend started giving natasja a multivitamin behind my back, i know it sounds petty but i went off the wall. Especially when natasja came home and announced that she had to have a special tablet every day. Lots of fights later I won with my argument of a balanced diet (which doesn't mean something in both hands) and she's fine. Doing very well at school and concentrates on things that keeps her interested. We didn't have stuff like that when we were kids, and i didn't want her getting all pill poppy at a young age. Sounds sanctimonious i know, but i don't know how else to say it. If it works then it works, but i wouldn't believe all the hype if i were u
