Looks like we have got to tantrum stage.......Kieran is 22 months.....and the last few days have been absolutely hell.  As soon as he cant get his own way, off he goes on one....and half the time I have no idea why he is having one!

The thing that really gets me tho, is that my mate had him for me the other day to give me some peace......and the little darling behaved himself, not a single moan.....and she had him for about 4 hours!

Ok, had my vent now, feeling better for that

Dont ya just love em sometimes!

Oh that sounds familiar.  It's knackering!!! Max has been going through that stage since he hit 1 year old-little tyke.  He's now 21 months old.  We use the 'naughty corner' and confiscation (sp) as punishment.  It seems to be working...slowly.

we went to a garden centre for lunch the other day and there were 2 lo's with their parents on the opp table. the dad challenged them boys to a race-see who can eat their dinner 1st. the child who didnt win pushed his bowl across the table at the ch opposite! it wasnt a big thing but u shouldve heard the parents!

'get up now, that is no way to behave, you lost fair and square, thats not how you behave-get on the naughty step now!' blah blah blah

the naughty step happened to be next to me-the parents ignored the lil chap for at least 10 mins! they made a real fuss of the other ch-who won! not being funny but their behaviour was worse than the poor naughty step ch who i did smile at!-well i felt so sorry for him!

the whole place was just staring at the parents!

they were only lil ch too! you shouldnt really race to eat food as you could choke!

something like that may work well at home-but i dread to think what they did if he was v naughty!

My eldest Hayley used to have some lovely tantrums but I think the best one in our family for tantrums is one of my brothers daughters.  She is lovely, blonde hair and blue eyes, butter wouldn't melt in her mouth but you should see her blow when she goes, she scares me  I have had a word with Ollie already and we have decided to skip the tantrum bit as he understands it won't help him in the long run

lol @ Sam.  Did he say 'alright mum'?  We use the naughty corner at home and it does work.  We don't leave him long, and then we ask him if he's sorry.  He can't say sorry, but he gives us a hug and a kiss and then all is forgiven.

We've chosen not to smack our children for various reasons.  Sometimes ignoring naughty behaviour isn't always the best way to deal with it either.  The terrible twos are a nightmare!

I have ignored Kieran's tantrums to an extent, but he has learnt to go and do something naughty and that will get my attention........his best one was to go into the kitchen, empty the food in the cat bowl on the floor and rub it into the kitchen carpet...................do you know how much a toddler stinks when he has played with cat food? well if you havent had the pleasure let me tell you it is bad!!  What got me was that he came running into the living room and threw the cat  bowl at me as if to say, see thats what happens when you ignore me!
