Sorry..... could do with some advice ladies....

I've just started weaning Ella as she'd suddenly gone to drinking 8 or 9 6-8oz bottles of SMA white and was waking for 2 feeds overnight... She's 15 weeks today and so far is taking really well to baby rice. I'm only giving it to her for 1 feed a day at the mo, her 10am or lunchtime feed. Roughly how long should I leave her at 1 feed per day and when am I likely to see her sleeping for longer?

She's doing really well and this morning, got so excited when I put her in her chair that she wouldn't drink her milk cos she wanted her baby rice!! Its only been a few days, but she seems to really like it.

My health visitor has been suportive (for a change!) but our surgery is understaffed and despite leaving messages for her, she's not rung me back yet. I just don't know what I'm doing really and am desperate for her to stop being so hungry and unhappy....

Thanks in advance!!!

Can't really help on the subject of when she will sleep better, she may do it really quickly or it might take until she is on 3 meals a day and milk.

I expect different people will have different views on when to add more feeds.  Personally I would do it after a week.  So carry on doing breakfast for a week and then maybe add something for tea time.  If after another week that goes alright then either add a main course and pudding at tea time or add a lunch time.  Just take is slowly and don't be surprised if on some days she doesn't want any solids at all.  Just offer them again the next day.

Thanks MumSam... I just feel so inadequate at the motherhood lark sometimes!! We've had one of those days today where she's been a banshee and I didn't know if it was cos she's hungry...

Thanks for the advice!!

I hate those days!  When you can just do nothing to please them and you want to do stuff and they won't let you.  She might be hungry just try her with small amounts and make sure she is having some water or well diluted juice so she doesn't get constipated.

Ollie has been really wakeful in the night the last week and last night for tea he had some apple puree and some baby porridge.  I have tried him on and off with apple but he hasn't been that interested.  Last night he ate the lot and was much more settled in the night.  Still woke 3 times but that's much better than the every hour that he has been waking.

Just take things slowly and be led by Ella she will tell you when she's had enough, and don't feel inadequate you are a great Mum and doing the best for Ella or you wouldn't be asking questions like you do!

ellen is not really interested in being weaned.  She is happy on her milk at the mo and is now sleeping through the night so all is well with her at the mo she is 16wks now.
