After dripping all over my knees when I went to the loo in the middle of the night, not long after having dd2, I got panicky as soon as it started drying up against my will!!

In my case it was down to sheer exhaustion (newborn dd+3yr old dd+ dh with food-poisoning), so I cashed in all help offered; rested whenever physically possible, drank fresh water as often as I could - especially before/after breastfeeding & following every loo visit. My Mum got me a liquid iron/vit supplement called Floradix from the health shop. Absolute GODSEND!      I ate low G.I. food to keep my energy levels even, and made sure I had a bit more protein than usual. Like you, expressing helped.

Well it worked, because I carried on comfortably dual feeding for as long as I wished/she needed. I guess I had the best of both worlds, because dd took breast or bottle happily (she didn't care where it came from-only that it did!). It was convenient for me too, if you see what I mean!

B.x

PS Looking at her, & cute photos of her during expressing, helped flow.

Hey sweetie. Sorry hun I've been out all weekend so havent seen this. I havent had time to read all the replies but heres what I'd say.

Drink loads of water - and I mean loads! Eat well too which is difficult in this weather - you need even more calories than you did when you were pregnant. Stay calm when you feed, relax and put something on tv or some music on and then go with the flow. Express inbetween to boost milk supply, if you struggle to express a nice warm bath can really help the flow.

Dont worry that you are drying up because you dont get so engorged. Your body will get used to the gaps in feeding and se wont fill up so much. Encourge Liam to breastfeed where possible and offer bottles after if he seems unsatisfied but at least it will help stimulation.

You also need to speak to your family hun, I know its hard but gently remind them that you are liams mum, you have already successfully raised a beautiful little girl, and not to take over from you. If you dont want your nan to give liam a bottle tell her!

Take care sweetie. I am so pleased you are developing your bond with liam now, hes so gorgeous! We're off to spain tomorrow but i'll have my mobile if you need to talk. Huge hugs and Edward sends snogs for meg!
