Max has an area on his scalp that looks a bit like cradle cap.  There are always large, white crusty flakes, but when I look elsewhere on his scalp it's clear.  It's just that one area.  He doesn't scratch it so it doesn't bother him, but when he has a hair cut it looks unslightly.  Does this sound like cradle cap to you?

I confess to rubbing it in the hope of making it go away.  Of course it doesn't, I just make it worse.  I wash his hair every other day with Johnson's shampoo and rinse thoroughly, but it's always there.  When he was a baby we used to rub in camomile oil or olive oil, but it proved to be quite costly.

I have a sensitive scalp and suffer from itchiness and flakes.  But now I've rediscovered Head and Shoulders it's not so much of a problem.  It's a fantastic shampoo with a lovely scent (not like the old medicated scent as before) and always leaves my hair shiny and healthy looking.

I was wondering if there was a version for los? Not neccessarily Head and Shoulders, but a medicated shampoo aimed at preventing cradle cap in toddlers.

I know that Tesco do shampoo for cradle cap but not sure if this is cradle cap as my two have never had it, they do get dry skin so i use baby oil mositurising spray which is great and clears it up in a day or two. I must admit i make all the kids bath everyday which probably dosen't help with the dry skin.

If its yellowish in colour its most likely cradle cap. Is it on the part of his head that would b on the bed wen hes asleep? That might b a reason for it being only in 1 area

Try dentinox cradle cap shampoo, its been a godsend for Ryan with his excema & cleared his cradle cap after 1 use it seems pricey (abt £2-£3)but iv continued to use it every other day for about 6 months now & im only half way thru a tiny bottle

aww Zo, Harry used to suffer with this and my gp told me its unlikley to be dandruff as is not common is small children, however he did say i could be using too much shampoo, so there for, to half the amount of shampoo i usually put on and to brush his hair before i shampoo it, just to loosen the dead skin.

If that fails try a mild medicated shampoo.

I found Johnsons shampoo to make it worse to be honest, I use elave junior it use to be called E 45. What i found did wonders is rub baby oil on his scalp and leave it for the day and wash it with the elave junior before he geos to bed.

Rachel's had got really bad at one stage and once i started using elave junior it did wonders & as a added bonus I think it not very dear.

also water can dry out your skin, we only wash Rachel's hair once a week at the moment, but in saying that she is only 9 months so she doesn't needany more than that at the moment.

Dentinox worked wonders for Taylor, he had really bad cradle cap... he still suffers with it now, but its no way near as bad.

Talkin bout cradle cap... can u get it on ur forehead?? Sophie has what looks like cradle cap just above her eyebrows. E45 wont shift it.

I used Dentinox for Sophie and olive oil. I would rub olive oil into her scalp at night, then rinse it off in the morning.

i think so, anywhere theres hair really. maybe try some vaseline or babyoil on cotton wool so it doesnt drip in2 her eyes

My cousin used 2 get margarine put on her cradle cap so im guessing anything oil based does the trick in the short term

Thanks for the advice, Ladies.

I will look out for some mild medicated shampoo in the hope of vanishing this pesky cradle cap once and for all.
