Well Joe got home about 8ish wednesday night all safe and sound. Had tea and then went up to bed..as you do. However Her Majesty (that would be Isla this time-the youngest) decided that she was going to wake up screaming like somebody had ripped her arm off. Went in to her and calmed her down, she settled down again which was good. She's not really eaten or slept properly over the last few days, not been overly worried as I just put it down to the heat. However she woke up again at 4am, shouting for her dad, which I didn't have a problem with but hubby did. I gave up at 6 and went and brought her in with us. She seemed fine, just a bit hot and sticky...but who hasnt been over the last few days. So the usual morning routine to get out the door for school. Isla refused her breakfast, or rather she had a mouthful of crispies and refused point blank to have anymore. We got natasja to school and isla started to fall asleep in her pushchair on the way home. Tried to give her a bottle when we got back home, she had about an oz and then screamed blue murder, eventually she took her bottle and I put her back to bed...apparently I fell asleep on the sofa, but I don't really remember that bit. I woke her up just before 1pm, she was boiling...her clothes were soaked wet through. Took her temperature when I got her downstairs and it came up at 40.3, phoned the docs for an appntment and they could only give me an appt at 4.40pm. Gave her some medised and just kept a very close eye on her..still refused to eat or drink anything..after an hour we got her to have an ice lolly. I felt her throat and her glands were all up, her breath is minging...so joy tonsilitis here we go again. After 2 hours her temp came down to 39.7, but was v worried. Phoned NHS direct and they said we'd been doing all the right things and just see the doc. Got to the docs on time, and for once so were they! Saw the doc told him what her temperature had been he sort of looked at me as if I was making it up, until he took her temp and it was 40.5, felt smug after that. He checked her ears, they were fine, checked her heart and lungs with his cold stethoscope and they were fine, pulse a bit racy but thats common with temperature as high as it was. Felt her tummy, checked for a rash, all fine. He was looking a bit perplexed and Isla looked as though she was going to punch him out...what part of i'm poorly leave me alone did the guy not understand. He felt her throat and there we go, her glands are huuuge, checked inside her throat and shes got really minky yakky tonsils. So banana medicine and brufen for Isla. So its very early in the morning and I have been downstairs with Isla for about 2 hours, she's exhausted but won't go to bed...so it'll be huge bags for me tomorrow. Joe has got a few days off before he goes away again, so I can stay up with her tonight and go crawl into bed tomorrow when we do a shift change. Plus side of this is that we were going to be going to his mums tomorrow for the weekend...but islas poorly so we're not going wooohooo. But it means we miss his best mates wedding which is a bummer cos we've been looking forward to that for months. His mum has said we can always come up in august for a week or so......so haven't got out of it altogether...does anyone know if you can order chickenpox to be date specific...cos if you can I know of a week in august that I could do with the chickenpox!!
