Its difficult because we all have different experiences on them all.

I still havent found one I'm happy with!

The pill made me pregnant - lol - so not going there again!
The coil possibly aggrivated my spd so I had it removed as a precaution.
The injection seems to be making me depressed and giving me terrible mood swings. (The implant is the same hormone so would do the same)

DP wants the snip! I want more children so at the moment I'm buggered!

I'm having the implants put in this week.  Apparently, it's just one rod as opposed to the 5 Norplant ones.  Norplant has now been taken off the market.  There will be a nurse present while the doctor inserts it-I have no idea why.

As diabetes is prevalent in the family my mum will take my blood (she's diabetic and has clean needles-her diabetic nurse advised me this is safe) and a urine sample.  I also had to convince the nurse I wasn't pregnant.  helloooo, I haven't seen my hubby for 7 weeks and have had a period in between so I'm 'safe' to have it-yippee!!

As it is hormonal there is a slight chance of weight gain, but with a controlled diet it may not be a problem.  Some women experience erratic bleeding for the 1st 3 months and come off it.  Well, I won't have that choice and may well have to persevere so fingers crossed.

You'll be fine, glad its not me....your mum would be chasing me for miles to get my blood.....would squeeze into the smallest space going......have fun.  The doc is doing a minor surgical procedure hence the reason why the nurse has to be there...plus it covers his own arse.  Bless em

I was thinking about having the implant too as another long term contraceptive, but i was told it would be 6 implanted strips under the inside of my arm and done under local anestetic, and would last for around 5 years,

So if things have changed since then, i might go back and speak to the doc!
If you dont mind, ill keep an eye on this thread to see how you get on after you've had your's done, so let us know how its going.

Good luck with it
